1984 Mercedes 380 SEC (EURO) The car is CA registered in my name, pink slip in hand, CA smog check passed easily and registered for use upto SEP 10'84 Euro import from Germany (door sticker to prove)California car since new, no rust anywhereExcellent engine and transmission (like new!!)Poor paint (easy fix)Full electic windows, sunroof and seats (heated also)Ice cold A/C, Red Hot HeatMileage stuck at 223,XXX and actual mileage must be closer to 235,XXX (see note below)Slight leak from P/S box (never run dry or been an issue on steering effort)HISTORY:We are 2 english graduates who decided to drive across the USA in 7 weeks and we bought this car up in the Hollywood hills at the start of March. The journey is now coming to an end after some 7000 miles by the time we get to New York on 18th April. The car (Heidi as she has been named) has surved us well but cant come home to the UK and must be sold. We ave encountered zero problems with the car and we have been allover during our road trip. From LA to San Francisco, The big horn mountains to Denver and Panama City, FL to Atlanta and now onto NYC. This car is perfect for a Mercedes enthusiast or someone looking for a super reliable and striking car that will get many looks and comments (good ones that is!).This is a very original small bumpered European SEC import. It has lived a very pampered and easy life in the california sun and shows very well for it 26 years in the USA. The exterior paint is original and the California sun has faded it but a simple paint job will have this car turning more heads than it does already! The interior too has suffered due to the sun with a couple of cracks on the dash and fading to the seat bottoms. That said the rest of the interior is in very nice condition and would look really nice after a good clean. All the electrics work and even on a car of this age Mercedes managed to put in full electric (even the headrests!) seats which are heated, full electric windows x4 (this is a pillarless coupe!) and sunroof/ A/C combo. Overall the car has worn very well but this car is much more than its outward appearance.The engine and transmission are rock solid for a car that has done quite a mileage. Important to note that as a euro import it has the double row cam chain as standard. The transmission is a 4 speed with a very good kickdown and manual override it shifts very smoothly too. We have always run the car on Chevron/Shell or BP top gas 93octane, the car has recieved a new set of tyres all round and the oil was changed only a 2 weeks ago. (reciepts for this work are avalible as proof!) The ride is great and there are no knocks or noises from the drivetrain. We would not doubt that this car would drive all the way back to LA but we don't have the time otherwise we would be doing it! NOTES:Don't be fooled by the badge on the trunk which may show it as the 500 but it has the smaller and more economical 3.8L engine (204bhp on supreme gas). We have been achieving 20mpg easily on the highway. (we guess the badge was an addition so the car looked more expensive when new!)The mileage has got stuck and this happened with the previous owner. He was able to show that the gauge was still working last year just before the last CA smog check.
