Vehicle Detail
The Mustang SVO was a 2.3L, 4 cylinder, turbo charged, inter-cooled, 5 speed car with 4 wheel disc brakes, a positive traction rear end and a road handling suspension. They were only produced for three years, 1984/1986 with less than 10,000 units sold. Production started on August 19, 1983 and this car was built on November 30th 1983. It was the 2,539th out of 4,507 SVO's produced for model year 1984. I've owned this car since May of 2002. All the mechanicals are done. It has a hybrid turbo( Garett A/R 60) which is both water and oil cooled. In June 2003 at 117,430 miles (15,000 miles ago), the turbo was rebuilt with a new waste-gate and a Gillis boost control valve and the engine was freshened and upgraded . Engine was cleaned, honed, new rings, rod and main bearings installed . The original head was cracked. It was replaced with a NOS head which was mildly ported and a roller cam with 226 duration and .375 lift installed. New oil and water pumps were put in along with a billet steel intermediate shaft and adjustable cam sprocket. At the same time the exhaust manifold was ported, and a new 21/2 inch exhaust with new cataltic converter and muffler were installed. The car also had subframe connectors welded in. The transmission was gone over and a Pro 5 shifter was installed. Last year the clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing were replaced. The air conditioning system is not hooked up. It is missing the line from the compressor to the dryer. I put a new dryer in but the fitting on the dryer is different than the original line. The Car is licensed and inspected and only driven in nice weather ( an average of 2,500 miles a year). The interior is OK. The head liner has been replaced with grey cloth - the original was grey vinyl. All the vinyl trim pieces were removed and repainted, and a Kenwood CD player and new speakers were installed. There is a small crack in the dash pad speaker insert. The front seats (leather) show wear and the seat seem on the drivers side is open. The exterior is the worst aspect of this car. It is a nice 20 footer. Body is straight and rust free, but needs a paint job. The clear coat is thin in places and the paint has quite a few chips. Also there are some small dings in the body, mostly in the doors. I'm currently only running 10 pounds of boost and the car is still a blast to drive. It corners like it's on rails. I'm in the process of building a couple of Dodges and the wife says the SVO has to go. Car is local pickup only. I accept cash, Paypal, or US Postal Service money orders. Successful bidder needs to deposit $200 within 4 days of auction ending. Feel free to come out look her over and take her for a spin.
