M37x will throw you back in the seat and cause your eyeballs to bleed with its rocket-like acceleration, but 6.5 seconds to nail 100 kilometres an hour isn’t pocket change for an upscale sedan tipping the scales at well more than 1,800 kilograms. That speed, though, is dependent on the console-located Infiniti Drive Mode Selector being in the Sport position, the most aggressive and fun of the four driving modes available. Each mode – the others are Standard, Eco and Snow – adjusts throttle sensitivity and transmission mapping to help optimize performance. One of the M37X’s best features is its all-wheel-drive system, which automatically redistributes power to the wheels (0:100 up to 50:50 front to rear) according to road and driving conditions. It’s seamless in operation and imbues the Infiniti with rather impressive grip when entering on-ramps at speeds somewhat higher than the suggested limit.
