Today, they’re rightfully cherished as the most outrageous and fun means of transportation in automobile history. The BEST part about El Caminos is how they combine the muscle car features of Chevy Chevelle with the utilitarian purposes of a pickup truck. This example is the perfect "driver" that's 2 cars in one! At a time when Hemi Cuda convertibles fetch a million dollars (and more) and Chevelle’s hit the magic six-digits, it's safe to predict that the 2nd generation El Camino will achieve stratospheric values in due course. If there ever was a time to jump on the runaway train, it's now! However, it's of utmost importance to find the right car, and none will fit the bill better than a Southern California survivor. A car that features all the desirable options and the most striking color combination. We're talking about the proverbial needle in the haystack here. With no reserve, this one's gonna have a new owner in less than one week! The current owner explains that car's previous owner was former major league pitcher Kevin Gross. He drove the car very little, enjoying the occasional "macho" arrival at a hip club or local sporting event to mingle with Dodger teammates, fans and muscle-car fanatics. The El Camino was always garaged, of course, while in his possession. Now let's inspect this amazing find inside and out, top to bottom, starting with the exterior. Surveying the Blue Metalic exterior it's mind-boggling just how straight this El Camino is. Paint is bubbling in a small section behind the left fender Also minor paint bubbling around the fuel lid. There are no dents anywhere. A few minor rust spots and a touched-up area on the hood don't take away from the car’s beauty. Paint finish is highly glossy. Chrome trim is in excellent condition all around and the deep Metallic Blue paint and chrome sparkles like new. 15" 5-spoke Mag wheels are shod with very nice BF Goodrich225/6R15ST radials. While we’re down on one knee, let’s have a look underneath. More than a shiny finish is a healthy chassis. Air shocks are present front and rear, and the brakes were freshly serviced. Befitting an always garaged car, the El Camino’s undercarriage presents itself in great shape. Detailed shots show nothing but healthy frame with minimal fluid leaks. Custom dual headers join the dual FlowMaster exhaust. 55 years old, it doesn't appear that the Chevrolet has ever needed any major collision repair either; it's as solid as a rock and ready for another 55 years of carefree cruising. Let's have a look inside now! Some typical minor rust can be seen along the doors bottoms in the photos above. Styled by GM's design studio, the dash and door panels match the exterior paint. Newer Custom Reclining Bucket Seats with Seatbelts add to comfort and safety. Custom Console features cup holders, aftermarket gauges and a 4-Speaker Audio System with AM/FM Flip CD. A Power Amp is in the rear. GT steering wheel and working tachometer accompany the fully functional gauges. All switches and gauges on the dash work and the AC blows ICE COLD! Headliner and sun visors are in excellent condition as well. LED lights enhance the interior. Door panels are pristine! Let’s have a close look under the hood. Looming large under the hood is a 350-crate motor fully chromed out with automatic transmission, power steering and working air conditioning! Any self-respecting two-lane blacktop warrior would have wanted it like this, back in the Sixties! The monster power plant starts easily, idles with the unmistakable rumble only Chevy's crate motor can produce through an unrestricted FlowMaster exhaust. It's happy with today's unleaded fuel with no noticeable pinging or pre-ignition. Oil pressure is great. El Camino runs cool, even on a hot California summer day in rush hour traffic. There are no annoying fluid leaks. We think it’s the bargain of the Century! Drivability: How does it feel to be behind the wheel of an American icon? Exhilarating, to say the least. Everywhere you go, the rumble of the FlowMaster duals, the sound of 100% authentic Chevrolet muscle fills your ears. Driving this beast releases pure adrenalin. To stay off the pedal is nearly impossible. This car was built to cruise Van Nuys Boulevard. Thank heavens, this stellar example is not prone to overheating! Power steering and power front disc brakes aid in taming the beast. In no time, you'll find yourself looking for rice burners to vanquish, we guarantee it! A 1965 Chevrolet El Camino is the real deal. This one's not a restored trailer queen, but an authentic fugitive from the past that has been pampered like a favorite child. You won't find a car like this very often, and if you were looking to find one just like it, you might never succeed. This is not an entry level El Camino, but an incredible relic from the Muscle Car Wars that is certainly a blue-chip investment as well. With no reserve, it could be your ride in less than one week! Presently, the private owner has a clear, California Title. CA license expired in 2014 but the car is currently in Non-Op status, so no penalties are due. Local sales tax and a $15 DMV transfer fee only applies to residents in CA.
