Vehicle Detail
1954 Chevrolet 3800 Pickup Truck No Reserve!! I'm offering, at no reserve, this great old Chevy 1 ton pickup. As most of the trucks I've sold here, this one came off of a farm here in Kansas. This truck is definitely the beneficiary of an arid environment, as I have found no rust on it anywhere - floors, cab corners, etc - are all rock solid, so regardless of what your plans are, starting out rust free, will save you a huge amount of time and money. Another common theme with these old trucks, is most of them have been sitting for awhile without being run - so I like to see if they will fire up, and get a rough idea of what they need. The first obvious need for this one is the windshield, the neighbor kids of the previous owner broke it with a baseball. Windshields for the '54/early 55 Chevy's are readily available online, and can be found for about 200 dollars - with the rubber molding. To get it started I cleaned the points, added some fresh gas, and dropped in a new battery. I also had to install a used starter I had, as a old one was very weak. The engine fired right up, and it sounds good, carries good oil pressure, and revs smooth. The battery I installed is a 12 volt so it will either need a 6 volt battery or converted to a 12 volt - the starter handles 12 volts just fine, and starts easier. The gauges - fuel, oil pressure, and temp appear to work. The doors open and shut perfectly. Windows go up and down, but could use some wd-40. Clutch and transmission seem fine, but pedal is sticky, and you have to help it up a little. I put brake fluid in the master cylinder, and brakes try to pump up and work - but will need to be bled out. Overall its a great project for the novice mechanic, or maybe father - son project. The fuel pump did start leaking after some driving - so there are going to be little things here and there, but the parts for these are cheap and readily available. The box on this truck is a solid mount 10ft box - not a dump box. It is in very nice shape - but if you don't want it, I will remove for free. I do have the complete seat bottom to go with the truck - I just took it out to show the floor. I will also assist with loading for no charge, and this pickup can stay here for awhile so you can take your time to find the best shipping deal, or take your time to come get it, as long as its paid for in a timely manner. Pickup comes with a State of Kansas antique bill of sale, and I will help with any paperwork you need to title in you state. Kansas is very title friendly.
