I decided to run the auction one more time as I am not buying the Rock Crawler CJ7 I was going to trade this in on in the event there were no bids. I was surprised this nice first year scout didnt get a bid? Auction ended early in morn so I thought maybe that was it. Last week on ebay a Scout of the same style that wasn't drivable sold for more than I am asking?? That one was not a 1st year, not drivable and didnt look near as good as this one... Anyway, Sputnik, I answered every single one of your emails...you dont seem to be getting them, same with guy from Indiana. So if anybody has something to say text/call. Ebay is letting me down with communication. 517 662 9409 1st year Scout. Body and frame are very solid. Yes, there is some rust its 58 years old but not where it matters and really none is visible. VERY solid considering what it is. Frame, quarters, rockers...all the important, expensive parts are solid. The old girl is NOT a rust bucket. Yes, small oil drip, again nothing major and never has needed refilled in between oil changes. I mean like a tablespoon a month, so next to non existent. She will eventually need a rear diff seal. It holds well enough to drive safely but is starting to go. Not that big a deal. Runs and drives GREAT and I mean perfect! Always starts easily and runs strait down the road. Newer brakes so she stops as well as non power brakes allow you too. The 4x4 in both hi/low works perfectly. Everything else works too, heater fan, cig lighter. Everything but the gas gauge. Which is why I carry the gas can behind the rear seating. I hope when I'm 58 I'm in this good of shape. I have the hardtop which is in excellent condition and windows too. I never use them but they come with it. I'll try to add pics of those and maybe some underbody if it warms up enough to drive to oil change where I can get under it. The windows are sliders and bolt in. I've never used them because it's a warm summer day ride for me. No rain, no snow. Every summer I drive this thing all over. Never left me sitting....its a ready to go as is rare first year scout or an excellent choice for a restoration. It is more or less unmolested, everything is original. Everywhere I go people of all ages approach me wanting to talk about it. People love it, so will you. Tires are pretty new, as well as starter, water pump and brakes. Will need a battery, get a side post. Other than a needing a battery I would literally drive this thing anywhere right now, just realize your getting there slowly. She likes 52-53 mph best but will go about 64 mph. Gas mileage sucks but you're not buying it for that. Only has 1 tank, I carry an old vintage gas can in the back and I'll leave it for you. Shipping is on your dime and I will assist however I can. I can drive the old lady right on a trailer for ya or pickup for free is fine too. 500$ non refundable paypal deposit and the balance in certified funds. I will have to wait for the funds to clear before shipping. I had a buddy get burned on a 17000$ H2 hummer. Bank said check was good and 10 days later they said it wasnt and his hummer and thief were long gone to some chopshop in Canada it turned out. Thanks for looking. This is a solid, fun original 1st year Scout. You can drive it home if you want to freeze that long. On Jan-31-19 at 18:37:01 PST, seller added the following information: New engine pics, the engine compartment has been nicely finished with like a bed liner spray. Clean and solid. The interior is looks nice too and is finished. Diamond plate floors, black dash. Stereo and seats are nice.
