Please consider my Pontiac Fiero, which I've owned and driven for over 20 years. This has the R code engine which would be original for this vehicle but it is a rebuilt replacement. It has an internal rattle so I'd suggest a rebuild but it will start and drive. The transmission has been overhauled with a rebuilt torque converter and it shifts just fine. I've replaced the flexible brake lines and turned the rotors plus the tires are new with only 50 miles or less on the road time. The air conditioner will blow cold but it has a leak and won't hold a charge. The rest of the vehicle has normal wear and tear to be expected for the age it is and the usual Fiero quirks and such.
