In 1974 and 1975 Honda motorcycles won the AMA 125cc Outdoor National Championships with the incredibly talented racer Marty Smith. In 1976, Honda released their all new CR125 with more horsepower and better suspension and they painted them in a new bold & bright color. These bikes were called the Red Racers and began a tradition of Honda motorcycles being the fast red machines flying around the race tracks. This particular 1976 125 Elsinore has been carefully restored to showroom condition. The engine has been rebuilt with new bearings and seals and a fresh bore job. There are numerous NOS parts attached to the bike and almost all fasteners have been replaced with OEM Honda parts. The forks have been restored with fresh seals and the aluminum lowers have been polished to new condition. The fork tubes are also topped off with the original rubber caps. The wheels have new spokes and brakes and the rims are rare correct DID hoops for a 1976 machine. The bike rolls on very difficult to find Bridgestone Motocross 7 & 8 tires that have no dry rot. The gas tank is clean inside with a new petcock and the stock carburetor has been rebuilt. The seat is firm with new foam and new cover. All the controls and cables are new and the bike has the correct '76 kill switch. The kick starter opens in and out correctly and does not flop around. The kickstand is tight with an NOS return spring and will make your vintage Honda easy to display. Underneath the bodywork is a perfect wiring harness with no modifications and everything is held into place with the correct Honda aluminum ties. The 1976 Honda CR125 is even more beautiful in person, the color red fades very easily and a newly restored bike really pops compared to unrestored machines. Here is your chance to add a wonderful Honda Red Racer to your vintage motocross collection. I don't have enough parts to restore another '76 Elsinore and this is the last one for me.
