Vehicle Detail
I brought this van 3 weeks ago and I was intending on doing a big road trip around America, however after 1500 miles I have decided to get something a bit more suitable and 4wd. Van has recent safety certificate. I am after a quick sale as I am wanting to carry on travelling, hence the low reserve. The van is located in Houston. Please contact me if you have any queries. Below is a copy and paste of the description from the original owner; Selling my very-fun-to-drive '62 Econoline. Let me tell you all about it. :) I am the owner and have a clear title.I've had the van for about 15 yrs now and have mainly driven it back and forth to Home Depot. It is a standard (three-on-the-tree) and has an inline six cylinder. It has a manual choke and I use it every time I start it up. After it's warm, choke is fully open and the engine runs smoothly. I have added a few things but it is mostly stock. Here are some items added within the last two months:rebuilt Holley-1904 carbnew gas tankfuel line (with filters)fuel pump14 inch wheels / primed and painted black - 1 year ago (originally came with 13" wheels)new insulation in dog houseoil change, oil filter, air filter (within this past week)topped off the fluids in the differential and transmission. The van is approximately 56 yrs old and naturally has it's share of aging (some rust, cracked weather stripping, dents, etc). I believe that there is a small exhaust leak where the manifold meets the exhaust pipe, but I have been running it like this for years. Some smoke from the oil breather cap as well, but it doesn't seem to burn oil. I have had the van for 15 yrs, but previous owner installed an after-market gauge set and plywood on the cargo floor. Most of original gauges on dash board do not work. Wiring is all original. Headlights, blinkers, and wipers all work fine. I keep a trickle charger on the battery and it maintains great charge/starting power (trickle charger is not part of sale). It does have a cassette deck (not original, of course) and two cool speakers! I mainly play Steely Dan while on the road. ;) I have enjoyed driving and maintaining the van, but it's time to let it go. I am including the original hub caps (see pics) that came with the first set of wheels. They do not fit on the 14" wheels, but they are original to the vehicle and I believe that they should stay with this van. Please check out pics and ask questions; happy to tell you everything about it. If you want something simple and fun to drive, then this is your van. If you are a restoration junkie, then you are getting a winner! (FYI: PayPal for deposit; final payment cash only :)
