Vehicle Detail
This is a frame up restoration that was meticulously researched and assembled. Every effort was made to find and assemble a 100% correct version of a 1970 Triumph TR6C. The frame and engine numbers obviously match. Over $7,000 invested in parts and service to produce a ride-able, reliable and correct version. All work is documented with receipts and also a parts catalog with every new part highlighted. Also detailed notes. I even kept the original packaging. The list of what was done to this bike is long and detailed. It was taken down to the frame and then rebuilt. Every nut and bolt was cleaned and every thread was tapped. I have multiple video’s of the bike starting and shifting through the gears. Send me a message for info on the video's. Additional photo’s are available on request. Here are highlights of the work done on the bike – I tried my best to include as much as possible, although I am sure I am missing some things. Engine: All engine work was done by Carl Donelson. Carl has been a Triumph dealer since 1962 and has extensive knowledge building, re-building and even racing vintage Triumphs. He also has an extensive parts inventory. I have documentation for all engine work completed. Over $1,800 invested in motor. Cases were split to get a good look at crank. Highlights: new rocker boxes, new cams, crank cleaned and polished, etc. Have list of everything done. Drivetrain: new chain, front and rear sprockets. Brakes: new brake linings, return springs, cables Exhaust: EVERYTHING is new and appropriate (OEM). Headers, pipes, mufflers, leg guard, clamps, mounting brackets, washers, nuts Frame: stripped and powder coated. New skid plate, new folding pegs (appropriate for TR6C), new mounting bolts. Fenders polished with new hardware, including rear wiring protector. Suspension – Front: New front forks and all internals. New seals, springs and washers. New fork oil. New boots. Steering damper has all new parts. Rears springs are new. Rear swing arm disassembled with new parts. Steering: new bars (appropriate), new cables, new kill switch (only on TR6C), new dip switch, Electrical: new wiring harness specifically made for the TR6C. Has a brand new Boyer ignition. I decided to go with the Boyer for reliability and performance. Can be converted to points if desired. Speedometer was sent to for a complete rebuild and paint. Over $200 invested alone on the speedometer. New battery, kill switch (specific to TR6C) and dimmer switch. All electronics work – see video. New coils. New plugs and new plug wires. Connectors, etc., were sourced from British Wiring. Wheels: new rims and Buchanon spokes. New bearings and seals. Wheel was balanced professionally. New tires have less than 250 miles. Fuel: new Amal 930 Premier carb. New petcocks (appropriate), new fuel line with appropriate connectors to carb. All new gaskets and seals. Appearance: new seat, new headlamp (not a reproduction, I was lucky enough after 2 years of searching to find a stock shell in very good shape. Chrome parts were polished. Oil tank and side panel/toolbox were sanded, primed and painted with appropriate black paint – plus clear coat. Gas Tank: Tank was the key to this bike so I wanted to get it right. Correct spring gold paint was purchased from Don Hutchinson. Gold stripe on tank was hand applied, like original. Tank was prepared, sprayed with spring gold, 3 coats of clear and then polished to get the final finish. New chrome centre styling strip. New mounting hardware. New reflectors. This bike will not go down in value. Can help with shipping – meaning I can take somewhere or meet shipper in area. Can deliver to Chicago as my kids live there and willing to deliver.
