Vehicle Detail

This is a frame built by Dick Mann Specialties (DMS) for a 1979 Honda XR500 motor. This motorcycle was purchased locally from AMS a couple of years ago with the intent of building a GP 2 and GP 4 eligible bike to compete at AVDRA vintage mx races. I have just run out of interest, and time to finish it or race the vintage races now. The bike is obviously not finished. There are still some things to sort out, but nothing that difficult, and could probably be finished pretty quickly. Dick Mann only made a few (5 or less, he wasn't sure exactly when I spoke with him) for the Honda XR500 motor. DMS built somewhere around 200 frames for the Yamaha TT500 motor, which are what they are more known for. I have magazine articles that I will give to the buyer. Here is a webpage with some information about these frames. http://www.lt-racing.com/html/dms_tt500_versions.html Here is a video of the motor running. https://youtu.be/1-Ne0zY5Fm8 Below is a list of most of the important things that have been done, and are on the bike: The frame, swing arm, and wheel hubs were powder coated.New bearings in the swing arm, steering stem, and wheels. This bike is set up for approximately 12" of travel. It has 1982 Honda CR250 triple clamps, forks with gold valves installed, and front hub. I had a machine shop cut a new stem and press into the clamps to fit the steering stem.Brand new custom built Ohlins shocks, built to length to match the travel of the front end.Brand new Mikuni 39mm flat slide carburetor, cable, and throttle housing. The seat pan, and foam on the bike are from a 1980 Husqvarna CR250. It still needs a cover, and the brackets that I fabricated need to be riveted onto the pan.Wheels are new gold rims laced to the powder coated hubs. Front is 1982 CR250. Rear is 1979 XR500.Custom brackets water-jetted for mounting modern YZ foot pegs.I created the graphic for the steering stem sticker, from photos in magazine articles Parts that will come with the bike: Original Works Performance piggy back shocks (I estimate about 7" of travel).vintage YZ400 forks and front wheelSimmons triple clamps1983 CR480 triple clamps if you want to change the bar position from the CR250 clamps on the bikeAn extra XR500 header pipe, and 2 supertrapp tail pipes(don't think they both fit though)2 1979 Honda CR125 tanks. 1 polished the other original used shape.3 Clarke tanks (1 white on the bike in the pictures, 1 red, 1 red oversized). An extra 1979 XR500 motor(unknown shape, wasn't running but was in the bike when purchased)An extra set of 1979 XR500 cases. The motor that is in the frame now has a brand new high compression piston, otherwise it's stock.Box of miscellaneous new seat pans, and side panels (I had to buy several to test fit, none of these did)New TT500 seat foam and cover (didn't fit)The bike does NOT have a title. There is plenty more value here than what I am asking. There is over $3,500 worth of new parts here, not counting the value of the rest of the items that come with the bike and the frame itself. Hopefully someone else will pick up where I left off and have a really cool and very rare vintage motocross bike. I prefer to have the bike picked up in person, but will also accept if the buyer arranges for and pays all costs associated with shipping.
