Fifth generation of the El Camino, last year before production was moved from U.S. The original El Camino SS was produced by Choo Choo Customs for GM from mid-1983 until the El Camino series was discontinued at the end of 1987. In addition to the aerodynamic nose treatment that was the primary styling feature of all El Camino SSs, all vehicles received graphics on the fascia, doors and tailgate, and a small chrome train logo above the glove compartment door. A limited number of El Camino SS had aerodynamic-ground effect style side exhausts with rectangular chrome exits. All Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS's were "final assembled" at Choo Choo Customs, Inc's., headquarters in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Includes original Choo Choo Customs catalog, Line Card, owner’s manual, and reprinted General Motors Heritage Archive dealership order guide. Was owned by a well-known collector in the southeast and part of his extensive museum collection. It was purchased from his estate in July of 2016. It was immediately sent to a noted performance shop in north Atlanta and at a cost of over $6,000 it was fully serviced including refreshing the cylinder heads, gaskets, hoses, belts, etc. due to the age and low mileage. Work included:- New BF Goodrich tires installed- Refreshed cylinder heads & replaced pushrods- Replaced spark plugs, wires, & distributer cap- Replaced thermostat, hoses, & belts- Rebuilt carburetor- Replaced A/C compressor (OEM) & accumulator- Replaced all fluids Vehicle is in exceptional condition.
