Vehicle Detail

Very nice driver quality 1949 Cadillac Model 62 Convertible up for bids. I purchased this beauty from a very nice lady whose husband who was nearing the final stages of a respectable driver quality restoration. Sadly, Joe died before the restoration was complete. Joe bought this Cadillac in 1960 at 12,000 miles and enjoyed it up until his death in 1999. The car was always parked in a dry garage. The odometer now reads 1889 miles. Joe's wife told me the odometer has gone around once. As you can see in the pictures, the convertible top/rear glass are in "as new" condition, as well is the interior. Joe had the top and interior replaced just prior to his death. The windshields are in very nice condition and the door glass is in very nice condition with no cracks or chips. The wing window tracts and glass are new in a box and needs to be installed. The side windows and trays are included and will need to be installed. Basically, the only thing the car is missing is the trunk release handle and a few nicknacks here and there. The car appears to have had one re-paint in the mid 90's. It is very respectable looking even close up. I get thumbs up and doubletakes everywhere that I go. The chrome and brightwork are also in very nice condition. I would give the chrome a solid 9.5 with 10 being as new! Last week I tuned it up with new plugs and wire and installed a new battery. The headlights, tailights, brakelights, turn signals, wipers, horn, dash lights, high beam indicator and cigarette lighter all work! The fuel, temperature, ammeter and oil pressure gauges all work too! The clock and radio do not work. The generator charges as it should and the oil pressure gauge indicated 20 psi at idle and above 30 psi at high idle after the engine is warmed up. I also flushed the radiator. The engine is an OHV 331 CI and was new for '49. It has no noticable leaks and hits on all 8 cylinders but sometimes pops through the carbuerator under acceleration. Weak intake spring? The good news is that the more I run the engine, the less it pops! Hopefully it will go away! The transmission is a Hydromatic 4 speed an shifts fine as it should. The brakes work as they should with a firm pedal and smooth and true stops. The power top motor and hydraulic system are operating but for some reason the top wil only lift about half way then it won't go any farther so for the time being until i figure it out, I just put it up and down manually. The car is very solid and very straight with no dents and I haven't noticed any rust other than some light surface rust and a small repair on the drivers side floor where the heater core had leaked at some point. Also included in the sale are Coker wide whitewall tires that I will have installed before the car is shipped. To sum it up, this is a very nice example of a two owner 69 year old true survivor, Own this one for a very reasonable price. Although this car is in very nice 90% restored condition, it still needs a few things done to make it perfect and is priced accordingly. It is also almost 70 years old, therefore, there is no warranty, implied or expressed and the car is sold "as is" so please don't hesitate to ask for better pictures or clarifications. inspections are welcome! So don't miss out on this exceptional 69 year old car! She's sporting her new Coker widewall tires now. I won't be relisting anytime soon as I will finish restoring her this fall and probably re-list next spring. Thank you!
