Vehicle Detail
Adult owned for last 19 years - California Car - Garage StoredGreat running 1978 Pontiac Trans Am has been a daily driver for the last 19 years Listed concurrently for sale locally. This listing will be canceled if sold locally. ONLY 115,608 original miles and clear title. - Stock vehicle without modifications - Power Steering - Power Brakes - Power Windows - Air Conditioning - Original 6.6 Liter Oldsmobile V8- Automatic transmission - Newer Front Tires - Original Wheels- Original Interior - Just passed California's rigorous emissions testing (see photos for results) This was our daily driver for the last 19 years and has been a wonderfully reliable car. The wife is retired, so it is just sitting and needs to go to someone who will drive it, restore it and love it. CONDITION: This is a 40 year old car that has had one repaint somewhere in its past. It was originally silver, but fully repainted black. VIN tag verifies it is an original TransAm, silver with Olds 6.6 V8 and automatic trans. - Engine: runs extremely well, smooth and quiet. Just passed California's enhanced smog inspection (see photos for results). This is a stock, factory motor, original to the car that runs strong. Great oil pressure (see photos). - Transmission: shifts smoothly and all gears work well. Trans was rebuilt many years ago and has been great ever since - Differential: works great, no known problems - Brakes: break pedal is low...really low. They will stop the car, but it should not be driven until repaired. I believe it to be either a brake adjustment or the master cylinder. It does not pump up and is not soft. It is just way too close to the floor to drive comfortably.- Gauges: All in proper working order - Dash: This is an un-cracked, all original dashboard and pad. It is very hard to find these original dashes in this condition. Lines in the photos are cracks in the windshield- Interior: Headliner is loose and needs to be replaced. Rear seats are amazing and in excellent condition. Front seats are in need of new upholstery. Door panels are in fair to good condition, but need new carpet. Arm rest screws missing on passenger side, but I have the arm rest which is in good shape. Console arm rest pad needs replacement. - Carpeting: The carpet in the car is original and in amazing condition! - Body: Overall in good condition. It does have lots of door nicks and dings, scratches and extremely minor dents. There are two small rust areas (typical) at the lower corners of the front fenders (see photos). Damage in this area is minimal (see photos). The rest of the body seems solid. There is some very small surface rust in the trunk that is less than 4 inches long. No known problems with the floorboards. Driver's door is the worst part of the car. It was repeatedly nicked on the lower door section resulting in some pretty significant damage. It is repairable, but it would be easier to replace it. Bumpers are scratched and dinged. Back bumper is sagging on the driver's side from being bumped in the back. Again, this has been a daily driver for almost 20 years so it will need some body work and paint. I have a spare fender flare to replace the missing front flare. I also have a spare spoiler corner piece that also comes with the car. - Glass: All glass is in good condition excluding the windshield which has multiple cracks and needs replacement- Trim: Trim is in very good condition and will easily shine up. The one piece across the top of the windshield is missing. - Air Conditioning: Currently does not work, but all parts are on the car. Easy restoration because it is a solid California car treated properly by adult drivers. This has not been raced or abused like so many Trans Ams. It just needs some love that I can't give it due to severe physical limitations. Lots of photos at: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spidernut/slideshow/78%20Firebird
