I run a small classic car business in London, specializing in Range Rover and Land Rover Classics; head on over to the website to get a flavor of the business – samuellloydcars.com We have sold several cars to the USA and Canada and are well acquainted with the process including shipping arrangements. This particular advert is somewhat different to most as I am unfortunately having to advertise my own personal truck after a recent accident. The “beast from the East” caused an ice induced accident involving a tree which has subsequently caused front end damage to the near side front quarter. The damage is substantial and has caused damage to the inner and outer fender, hood, and front radiator, likely including some engine and auxiliaries. The gearbox has also taken a hit, it seems relating to the linkage as there are no findable gears, however the engine does turn over, but is stuck in 4th. To give a synopsis of the vehicle; it is a 1988 Land Rover 90 2.5 TD delivered new to Land Rover Wadham Stringer in Southampton to a Mr T King. The truck has an exceptional history file with every MOT certificate to date and an extensive record of invoices dating back to the early 90’s, all totaling in excess of $8500. The car also includes its user manual and service book, which is fully stamped up to 1998 and has invoices to support the rest. The truck was recently serviced in February 2018 and was given a fresh MOT. My personal favourite element of this truck is that it carries original paint, and to me that patina just can't be beat. So rare to find a Defender or 90 with original paint. Now for the special bit; in 2010 the truck was relocated by a UK expat to Seville in Southern Spain and spent the best part of 8 years in the dry Spanish climate. Subsequently the vehicle presents exceptionally well and is unlike any equivalent UK truck. Also featuring under 95,000 miles all on the original engine, all substantiated by it’s MOT certificates and ITV certificates also for the relevant Spanish period, therefore all matching numbers and is US compliant. In recent years the car has also been fitted with new black Exmoor trim seats and centre console which have been protected from the Spanish sun by khaki Exmoor covers. This is a truly unfortunate event and I’m deeply saddened to write this about what was such a lovely vehicle, however I do hope that someone can make the most of it. I am sure there are some passionate and creative buyers out there who could potentially do a left hand drive conversion and fit a V8. On that note; I do have a 3.9 EFI engine and transmission from a previous defender complete with auxiliaries and ECU which can be purchased separately if so desired. The truck currently has a Spanish title, however I can arrange for a V5C for any UK buyers. Also for UK buyers - the car is unrecorded and subsequently HPI clear. Note that the first 7 photos show the truck after the crash and the latter show before. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch; I’m sure someone will be able to grab a bargain – happy bidding!
