Vehicle Detail

This 55 Chevy was my first car. I bought it in 1975 and I am the second owner. It did not take long for me to pull the 6 cylinder and make some changes. I put in a 327 V8 from a 1969 Impala. I connected it to a 400 turbo, with a shift kit, and connected it all to a 12 bolt posi rear end, both from a 1969 Chevelle. I never drove the car in the winter, because I had a Jeep CJ7 back then. Do not confuse this as a statement of non-rust, it just does not have as much as many other would. As we did in the 70's, I had ET aluminum slotted wheels, 60s in the back and jacked up in the air. And as you can guess, I got in my share of trouble. I ran through a chain link fence one night and the traction bar grabbed the chain and through it into the drivers side back window. So it is cracked. One night I had a mailbox run up the front of the hood and I turned out quick enough to not take out the windshield. It scraped up the hood, took off the antenna and mirror, and then knocked out the passenger side windows. It was almost like Harrison Ford in American Graffiti, except I did not roll the car. The very last picture is of my car when she was in her hey day. Those were the days, but from getting stopped so many times, I pulled the wheels off and dropped the back end down. I was hoping I could run under the radar. One day, a gentleman pulled into the left lane in a 1977 Chev van, and he came into my lane with his front end. His steal bumper hooked my rear quarter right behind the rear wheel, and cut my rear quarter off like a pair of tin snips. I did buy a quarter, as you can see in the trunk, but I never put it on. I soon parked the car in my dad's building, which was about 1982. In 1999, I moved into a place large enough to store my stable of cars I had acquired. I rinsed out the gas tank, added gas and it started right up! I drove it from my dads place 5 miles to my shop. I did not start run it again, but I am sure it will start up again. For the pictures, I did not clean wash the car, I blew it off and that was about it. I did rip the carpet out of the trunk because it smelled really bad. For years I thought I would restore this car, like many other old guys did and would not sell me their car, but I have come to the realization that I will not be doing so. This car is worth restoring, as the car is complete with all the Bel Air trim. I wish I could. Being my first car, this is not an easy thing to do, but it is time to let her go to someone else to enjoy. If you have any questions, please ask. If you are near Green Bay, stop in and take a look. I have many more pictures of the car, the ones posted and ones of the underside at the34kidDOTuseDOTcom. The car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right end this listing early.
