Vehicle Detail

Selling a number of items for a friend and her husband in a nearby town. She and her husband are retiring and relocating out of state - so lots of items to thin down for the move! All items are selling without reserve and full disclosure as to what we know, from the owners, about each item. All items will be listed on a one-time-only listing - looking for new homes for these items.***** For sale: Here is a unique one - a "fin" car from the 1960s! This is a 1961 Chrysler Newport coupe - painted and restored to Viper red with a complete new interior! This car features a 1962 413 V8 Chrysler motor with Cross Ram induction (2 Edelbrock 500cfm four barrel carbs - new). Car has a Torque Flite automatic transmission, push button tranny commands on the dash, and tranny is the aluminum case one as it was upgraded from the previous cast iron body tranny. Car has 76000 miles on it. Motor purrs and has more than adequate power and runs well - was upgraded with hardened valve seats (can use current gas safely), has larger 1978 452 heads installed and has been tuned and fully restored. All mechanic work was done by her husband, he was a dealership Mopar mechanic for his full career and ended owning his own shop specializing in Mopar, especially big block cars. Car is equipped with power steering, power brakes, radio and that unique dash pod that you see - car comes with two extra speedo domes as parts that are included. Car also has full dual exhaust, definitely wakes up the neighbors, and car runs out and presents beautifully. The owner has won numerous trophies at car shows through the years - time to move the car on to a new home and new owner at this point in her life. Her husband also has his car, a convertible Dodge big block, that we will be listing shortly.***** Condition: Car runs and drives fine, presents well and is a very noticeable head-turning collector car! Originally the car was from Texas, was white in color, and had a 361 V8 motor in it. Body was faded, not rotted, and interior was in poor shape when restored. Car has been upgraded as mentioned, the Chrysler 300 grill was added in the front, side fender trim chrome spears were deleted, wheels and tires changed, and a 62 motor installed (413 V8), induction system upgraded to the Cross Ram as well as a full motor work-over and tranny change-out, as mentioned, to give it additional road ability. Paint work was done by a local shop in Western Indiana (I also have had work done there with my collector cars; recommended) and the car's body is straight and true. Underside and frame have had no patches or repairs, was cleaned etc... and undercoated. Car has minor issues that include needing a door arm rest pad on the driver's side, some light scratches in the curved part of the windshield on the passenger side front glass (wiper marks), a few nicks in the paint on the trunk edge, a scratch on the upper door outside on the passenger side (could be easily buffed/repaired), some warp to the vinyl on the door panels on both doors (minor), a pad missing on the passenger side dash up front, a pad missing on the cover over the speedo pod (metal piece is in gray primer and without the pad on it), chrome on rear bumper is very thin, chrome on front bumper is better but not perfect, steering wheel needs the rim redone as half of the plastic is gone, and there is no trunk mat. Car is very nice, not mint, and it is used, but definitely not abused and has been stored all the years this couple have owned and restored the car. Clear title in owner's name and selling "as is" and with no warranty, guarantee, or possibility of return. Added information (Wednesday): I did visit with the Chrysler owners late in the day today (Wed.), here is what I found out: -have owned car 16 years, bought it for his wife on her birthday-tranny that owner put in was redone when he bought it, he redid the top of the replaced motor - valves, replaced heads, springs, rockers etc... top end-rest of motor checked out fine and strong-motor in it, the 413 came from a Chrysler New Yorker, Cross ram he had on hand as parts a good 30 years being in the Mopar repair shop-the handle plastic for the parking brake is broken off, rod is there and useable and is needed for there is no park mode with the tranny option-brakes were completely redone, all drum, all new cylinders etc... and dot 5 synthetic, work fine-stainless trim for front fenders was not with the car when restored, do not have it-two dash instrument pods go with, neither part is complete and parts were used off these for the car's restoration-all gauges are said to work and light, we did try them, I could see the greenish glow changing when adjusting brightness-did see light behind the push buttons on left side of instrument pod, did not see lighting happening behind the right side buttons-radio is a simple Gold Tone, they never put the antenna in after restoration, thus never used the radio - don't know if it works, can't hear it with the motor, mufflers-should have the padded dash, but never came up with the piece and never put it on-stickers on dash are magnetic and will come off without harm-white fur on back dash is said to have a faded pad under it, can be taken out-car was stripped down to bare metal when redone, pic included-floors and bottom of car were solid and free of rust damage, only surface rust; cleaned, scraped etc...and lightly undercoated, no patch panels-did notice fraying seams on driver's sun visor, pic included-cross ram is great in power up to about 4850 rpm, after that it is not as effective-I believe he said that his tubes are 15s -Cross ram is tougher in winter as there is no heat riser effect built in under them as with a normal car induction-Found an extra piece of interior material, goes with the car also Payment/Pickup: Shipping is marked as local pickup. Car is located in Central Illinois, near Watseka, IL (zip 60970 and about 1.5 hours south of Chicago, Illinois and near from the Illinois/Indiana state line). All transportation and arrangements for pickup/shipping are paid and made by the buyer. Seller is selling this car as is, so we cannot warrant any aspect of the car or use of the car. It currently is plated and used on weekends and to shows. Payment on this item is a $1000 deposit through PayPal within 3 days of sale's end, balance due within 14 days - either balance paid by wire transfer prior to pickup or in cash at pickup - again, we would like to move the car on to a new home/owner within 2 weeks of sale's end, so please be able to arrange pickup - it can easily be driven or hauled if desired. Please call before coming.
