Vehicle Detail
This 2001 BMW K1200RS "ABS" motorcycle has 36,156 original miles. Comes with original BMW hard case saddle bags (see photo for left side damage) Operators Guide Book, aftermarket Corbin seat, Corbin passenger seat back, TomTom Rider2 GPS w/mount, front & rear LED driving lights, protective headlight cover, quick exterior mounted connection for battery tender, and Battery Tender charging unit. Was masterfully rebuilt after an accident approximately 5 years ago that caused the insurance company to declare it a total. So, it has a salvage title but runs beautifully. Metzeler tires front and rear have lots of tread and less than a 1000 miles on them. Was professionally inspected in July 2016 with only an oil change required. Is always store in the garage and connected to a battery tender when not being driven. Shows normal signs of age, wear, & tear where you would expect. Right side fairing has a scrape (see photo) on the checker board pattern just in front of the black horizontal side vents. I will try to answer any questions as quickly and as thoroughly as possible. Answers to Previous Questions: Yes, plates and inspection are up to date. But, upon purchase the new owner you will have to register the bike under their name which will require new plates. I will go to a notary public down the street (with new owner) and have the sale notarized. The bike is fuel injected. No leaks. Last time I road it I drove 150 miles round trip and everything worked as expected. Also last professional inspection revealed nothing wrong with the bike. Hi, I wasn't the owner but it belonged to a friend of mine at work who got transferred and needed the money. So, I without hesitation bought it knowing it's history. If I hadn't known him I wouldn't have bought it. It was all mostly cosmetic damage. Many external items on the left side of the bike were badly scrapped, damaged or ripped up and he replaced everything after buying it back from the insurance company. The furthest in the damage went was to the surface of the left side engine cover. If the left side Saddle bag had not been on It probably been much worse and he wouldn't have bothered to buy it back and give it a second life. When I bought the bike from Brian (my friend/co-worker) he told me the accident was as simple as he laid it down on it's left side and slid an undetermined distance. Before he put the bike back together with all the new or replacement parts he striped it down to a point where it could be determined if there was anything wrong with the front end or frame. He said everything was still within OEM specs. I took his word for it and never regretted buying the bike. When I ride the bike there isn't a hint of a problem and you can't tell that it was even in an accident. It's nothing but a smooth ride. All the lights and gauges work as they should. I'm 6'2" and 53 years old and I wouldn't have bought the bike if it had been a café racer style seating position because I have three fused vertebra (not related to any motorcycle accident). I bought it from my co-worker because it was a Sport Touring bike and was built for a tall person. It's definitely an upright seating position compared to café racers. I went on a 150 mile ride one day and at the end of the day I had no aches or pains; just a wonderful feeling of exhilaration. Although, I did realize afterwards that I needed to buy a new set of padded summer gloves. If your mentioning of "two up" refers to a passenger, I can't answer that question because unfortunately my wife refuses to get on it even though the seat back should make her feel cradled between it and myself. But to answer your main question, yes I believe this bike will work for you as it has for me. Please let me know if you have any further questions. I have never used the Hard Shell Saddle Bags since I bought the bike. I removed them immediately and stored them on a shelf in the garage except for when I took the pictures. I prefer the look of the bike without them. I can not positively say that both saddle bags are air/water tight. Thank you for your interest. If you do decide to buy the bike I'd prefer that when you come to get it that you have a cashier's check or money order for the remaining balance. I'd prefer to keep my PayPal fees to a minimum.
