Vin WDCYR71E25X157792The Gelandewagen was originally designed by Mercedes Benz to be the ultimate in off road vehicles. The G55 is the AMG version of the truck, it expands the parameters of the G Class from the ultimate off-road weapon to the ultimate in on-road SUV’s. In this quest, Mercedes has succeeded spectacularly. The G55 is powered by a supercharged 5.5 liter V8 paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission. The supercharged 5.5 liter V8 was good for 469 horsepower @ 6100 rpm and 516 lb. ft. of torque @ 2650 rpm when new. 2005 AMG models were special editions, utilizing an intercooler, screw-type supercharger, and an updated fuel injection system to create extra power.The hand-built engine puts out 30% more power than the previous year’s naturally aspirated G55, giving stunning performance in propelling the 5,600 pound truck from zero to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. In 2005, only 300 G55s were offered in the US with the AMG package, and the original MSRP was just over $100k. The low mileage is apparent with the condition of the truck. Standard G55 options include leather interior, premium wood trim, rear parking assistance, navigation system, rain-sensing wipers, dual zone climate control and heated power front seats with memory functions. Additionally, this truck has the cold weather package featuring heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. All mechanical systems work as they should.The interior remains stock; the black leather seats are in wonderful condition, with tight stitching and light wear. The G55 features a 4WD system with front and rear locking differentials as well as a locking center differential; larger brakes than the standard G-Class bring the truck to a halt with authority. This 50,450 mile example is completely stock and original from the factory. The truck has been exclusively dealer maintained, as verified by the Carfax and was recently serviced at the Mercedes dealer in Fairfield, CT. The bright silver metallic paint is in excellent shape and presents well, as does the interior. The Carfax is clean and displays previous service history; we have recent documentation from the Mercedes dealer. The truck is up to date on all maintenance including a transmission and oil service as well as replacement of the ABS ECU.
