Vehicle Detail
1977.5 Ford F250 4x4...Converted to 460 cu in engine. Conversion was done with tremendous craftsmanship. Custom built engine including index ground crank, forged pistons, filed and fitted moly rings, balanced, roller rockers, ported heads, stainless steel valves, new valve guides, L and L headers, custom 3" exhaust less than 1 year ago and everything ceramic coated, Edelbrock Air Gap aluminum intake manifold and Edelbrock 750 cfm 4 barrel carb...easily passes emissions...over 80 hours in assembly time of engine. Just over 100,000 miles on engine with Mobile 1 synthetic oil changed every 3,000 miles after break in. Does not use any oil...can remove valve covers in seconds if you want to inspect inside of engine. C6 Transmission...rebuilt about 15,000 miles back with new synthetic ATF including draining torque converter every summer...two transmission coolers, Custom Ron Davis aluminum radiator and coolant changed every year.Restoration in 1997...Windows, seat, dash, wiring, doors, bed...everything removed for sandblasting and paint. Fender wells and all parts like hinges and front radiator support were powder coated. Like new upholstery with bench seat from 1996 F250. Dash is perfect with new Nostalgic Air A/C-heater-defroster unit installed about a year ago. A/C is cold with heavy duty condenser and Sanden rotary compressor. New dash and dash pad during restoration...no holes...no cracks...perfect. Upgraded 130 amp Powermaster alternator. Dual batteries...both batteries charge when engine is running and isolated when parked. Main tank (19 gal) replaced 6 months ago with new filler hoses and sending unit. New fuel lines and sending unit along with transfer valves last year...reserve tank is 28 gal and factory. Drive lines rebuilt, new u joints and rebalanced about two years ago. MSD Ignition including MSD distributor and Ignition Control box. Integral power steering...not the power assist on older Fords (Rebuilt power steering gear box by Red Head). Paint is 20 years old...looks good, but not perfect. Garaged since painted...crack in paint on hood and left front of bedside near forward fuel door (See pictures). Door jambs need to be updated (See pictures).Dana 60s front and rear...king pins NOT ball joints. VERY FEW TRUCKS WITH DANA 60 UP FRONT. Drives and steers like new. Power lock differential up front and Detroit Locker in rear. Power locker installed by Four Wheeler Supply and rear Detroit by Arizona Differential. Upgraded rear axle shafts from Dynatrac. 35x12.50x16.5 BFG All Terrain Tires in great shape with hurricane 10" rims...spare is new. New Process 205 gear driven transfer case. Shifts awesome with 2/4 high and low.Just rebuilt front springs and shackles, packed front and rear bearings, changed gear lube in both differentials and transfer case, all new brakes, flushed brake fluid, new Edelbrock water pump and high performance fuel pump...had a coolant leak...thought it was coming from timing chain cover...replaced cover and installed new Edelbrock roller timing chain set...turned out to be thermostat housing gasket for $.35.Camper shell is from Mountaineer in Tempe, looks like new and was completely rebuilt by them just before they sold their shop about three years ago.Used 4 wheel drive in Feb...solid and works perfect!!!! I have been building and updating this truck since 1983. No bolts are rusted or stripped, wiring is perfect, spent years dialing in carb, timing, tuning distributor and talked to Crower many times to get what I wanted from the cam. Timing chain straight up on zero is absolutely where this combination of engine, heads, porting and exhaust likes to run!!! Runs strong on regular unleaded, idles nice with just the right amount of a lope, faster than any other truck of it's size and weight and you can feel it pull and keep pulling as you step on the gas. Kept it clean and stock or like Ford would have done at the factory if a 460 had been an option in 1977 along with a 4 barrel. The high pinion front Dana 60 with king pins vs. ball joints is something I looked for for years. When I found one I salvaged/tossed everything but the housing and built it up with all new parts (axles, differential, hubs, spindles, bearings and selector gears). The L and L headers are heavy walled and solid with 3/8" flange. Because of the GVW this truck never had catalytic converters or vapor recovery. I got tired of uneducated emission inspectors freaking out every year so while the bed was off in 1997 I took it to our state lab and had them inspect the truck. Even in parts catalogs you can order a new main tank with or without emission/vapor recovery hole.Every repair or upgrade was planned out and I took advantage of any opportunity to improve the strength and quality. Pictures do not come close to representing this truck. You need to walk a 360, crawl underneath, listen to it run, experience the solid and straight steering and most importantly feel it accelerate and drive down the road :-). There is nothing like sitting at a light pulling a trailer and a kid pulls up next to you and tries to edge you out of a bottleneck...or camping and your entire trip is pulling friends out of holes or up hills. You put it in 4 low and it is unbelievable!!!
