BECAUSE LIFE'S TOO SHORT TO DRIVE A BORING BIKE!!! The Classic Car Gallery3266 Post RdSouthport, Ct 06890203 256 9800 ClassicCarGallery.com 1970 BMW R60/5 “Very original, Fanatic owner, lovely motorcycle” Vin 2931399 BMW motorcycle’s, like their automobile counterparts, have always been defined by quality, performance and precision. Introduced in 1970, the R60/5 (the 60 denoting the 600cc size of the engine) was a new design using some older BMW themes. The bike was an update of the early and antiquated R60/2. The new design featured a heavily revised engine, a redesigned frame and suspension. The bike was hailed as a revelation in terms of handling and rideability over its predecessor. The R60/5 is an ideal useable classic. Decent power, predictable handling, excellent build quality and rock-solid dependability. It is a bike you can ride regularly and with confidence. Simple construction and excellent parts availability make the 60/5’s easy to keep on the road, and a large and enthusiastic community of BMW owners is always ready to help you keep your Teutonic steed running. The BMW R60/5 on offer here is a 1970 model. The bike has been fanatically owned since 2002, has been well maintained, updated when necessary and enthusiastically ridden. The bike has 35,118 and has been ridden less than 3000 miles since 2002. It remains in excellent original condition, with a nice Patina on the bike. The chrome brightwork is nice, with some corrosion around the bike. The exhaust pipes are nice with minor pitting, and the drive shaft housing has some corrosion. The seat is functional, but has a few small tears. Please study the photos carefully. We have lots of documentation of the work done since the current owner bought the bike; The work includes but is not limited to; Fork rebuild including springs and seals and front brakesvalve adjustments, new mufflers,PointsPlugsWiring harnessBar end flashersNew batteryCrash barsRear end seals and brake shoesNew rear shocksFrequent oil changes The bike runs and drives well, and its black paint (believed to be original) has excellent depth and shine. The engine starts well, pulls with authority and has good power and torque. The transmission shifts well and the clutch has good feel. The bike is overall in very nice original condition, and can be ridden just as it sits, or easily brought to the next level. This BMW R60/5 offers an excellent entre’ into the vintage motorcycle world. Please feel free to call 203 256 9800 or email Steven@ClassicCarGallery.com if we can answer any of your questions.
