Vehicle Detail
I have decided to sell this incredible R60/2 BMW Earles Fork BMW. This is not a restored bike, rather, this is an original canvas, untouched by time, only driven 6393 miles since new, still on its original tires!. This bike was taken out of a heated basement after decades of storage. It was last on the road in 1980. Its owner, an elderly gentleman, ceased to ride it then and brought the BMW to his basement for storage. As you would expect from a machine with so little use, it has its original numbers matching engine. This is the bike you want to buy to use as a template for future restorations. The paint is totally original, with its beautiful white striping, all done by hand. It is a heavily optioned machine, including: Sport mirrorsHeadlight haloDenfeld solo saddleDenfeld pillion rackOEM Cylinder guardsOriginal Nail KeyComplete original tool rollOptional extra wide benchKeys for the tank compartmentHandlebar-end blinkersCloth headlight lens guard.Air hand pumpThe following work was performed in order to awaken the engine from its decades long hibernation. Complete carburetor rebuilds, cables, ignition wires and spark plugs. Engine oil and a gas tank flush. New OEM fuel lines, hand grips, foot pegs, battery box and a new sealed 6V battery. This is a one kick start engine. It putters to life, smooths out in a matter of seconds and idles quietly. The R60 engine/ Earles Fork Frame, is also a wonderful platform for sidecar application as well. All the electronics work properly including its original Bosch Lens with an illuminating low voltage bulb. Side blinkers are cool old school! The speedometer and tripometer work fine. A word about the chrome and paint. Its original. They are only original once. I would leave the cosmetics alone. As time passes, it is the original, unrestored bikes which are the most coveted. I have seen /2 restorations with upwards of 20 thousand dollars spent. That is fine. But an untouched original bike, over 60 years old, is hard to replicate. Now, about the Ebay process. Do not bid if you do not have the funds for an immediate purchase. I will expect total payment in 3 days. This is a non-reserve auction. Highest bidder wins. You may come and examine the bike. I am located in the scenic hamlet of Bedford Village New York, which is located 40 miles north of Times Square. Feel free to call or text at 914 403 1768. I have been a member of Ebay for 17 years with 100% customer satisfaction. This is a wonderful bike, and rare opportunity to own such an original, low mileage, matching numbers piece. Thank you, and God Bless the United States of America. Fireman John Louis On Jun-02-17 at 19:01:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Some final thoughts...... I had the machine detailed today and I must say, what an improvement!! The chrome is at 90%, with exception to the rear wheel which still requires attention. The paint has a beautiful patina of age, and the white striping shows incredibly. Further, I had a local BMW mechanic give the bike a once over. Clean and dry underneath. Everything torqued. The brakes and clutch were adjusted. The hub caps and air filter look great. All the lights, blinkers and even original horn are in perfect working condition. The headlight lens defies its age. The engine was run, it started with one kick. The tank was topped off with premium fuel. It is ready to go. I wish you good luck, you will be hard pressed to ever find a more original example. Thank you all for keeping watch!
