Vehicle Detail
1979 VW Bus Full Campmobile with Original Plaid Interior HistoryMy wife and I looked a long time for a really nice Campmobile and 3+ years ago found this one in Nevada. Ironically, we found it on eBay and had to have it--it was just what we had wanted. Travel, Camping and ConditionWe are an older couple, one of us retired, and we were able to afford to travel quite a bit in the bus. Some of the trips were: Wisconsin to Park City Utah, St. Petersburg FL, Virginia, D.C., New Jersey, just to name a few. This bus is extremely reliable. The only problem we had in all of our traveling was that we had to replace the fuel pump on the way back from Utah. We stayed overnight and were on our way the next day. Shenandoah National Park snapped a photo of us camping there and has used it on their website--so yes the bus is famous. ConditionOur bus is ready to travel as it sits in our garage right now. It starts, runs, shifts, brakes, and rides smoothly. And has a strong 2.0 L engine that has only 44k on it. Power is excellent and you will have no problem doing hills and mountain travel. It has several small issues that you might care to fix: 1) One of the louvered side windows will not open with the crank, since the crank mechanism is most likely stripped--that was broken when we got it--we just use a small wood block between the louvers to open the window when we're camping, 2) Although the windshield wiper works well, the windshield washer does not function, 3) As you will see in the photos, the screen window in the 'pop top' has many tears, which we patched with duct tape--it didn't bother us, but it could easily be replaced, if you would like. Everything else works well and as it should. Since we bought the bus, we have added several items: 1) we added a double phone charger below the dash--it works with or without the engine on!, 2) we also added a high-end stereo and nice speakers, discreetly mounted, 3) We also added a receiver hitch as you will see in the photos (we didn't pull a trailer, but we did slide a large locking cargo box into the receiver hitch--it holds a ton of gear, and keeps you from unpacking all that stuff from the van, every time you want to stop for the night!!! (PLEASE NOTE: THIS CARGO BOX WILL BE INCLUDED IF YOU PAY THE 'Buy it Now' otherwise it is not included in the sale.) Reason For SellingWe have had a ton of fun with the bus. Everywhere we go, it seems people want to reminisce about the 60's/70's, see the inside, or take photos standing near the bus. Lots of fun, but as time goes on, we seem to use it less and less and after much deliberation, have decided to sell. Important Please ReadWe have included current photos of the bus, which are included on this eBay auction page, however, we have come across the original eBay ad from when we purchased the bus 3 years ago--IF YOU CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW, YOU WILL SEE A TON OF PHOTOS AND VIDEOS!!! Except for the couple of changes, the bus looks nearly identical to then. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-Volkswagen-Bus-Vanagon-TYPE-2-WESTFALIA-CAMPER-CAMPMOBILE-/221357914766 Note: I am very sorry that I had to cancel the initial listing but there was an error with the reserve and buy it now prices.I am hoping that you will forgive my problem and continue to bid on this listing!
