Vehicle Detail
Iconic 1992 Range Rover 2- Door with the 2.5L VM Turbo Diesel, the only car ever to be displayed at the Louvre Museum in Paris as an ‘art installation’. The VIN is SALLHABE8EA 329204 Very original factory specification truck, having driven 100,356 miles. Exported when it rolled off the production line in Solihull, Birmingham to the Barcelona region of Spain, where it has spent 25 years on a Spanish farm. These trucks have become a very rare sight on US highways since the two-door was never sold in North America, thus a rare and collectable vehicle. Having lived in the warm Spanish climate the car is rust free. On the highway the car can achieve very good gas mileage of around 500 miles per tank. Secondly the car is equipped with Air Conditioning. Mechanically the car runs very well and is one of the best VM engines I've heard in a Rover truck. Starts first time every time and runs very quietly. The only mechanical problems are the break system needs an overhaul as very worn, however this should be an easy fix given there is almost no pads and there is no brake fluid in the reservoir! Secondly there is a hissing from the power steering and subsequently the power assistance is intermittent when turning the wheel. As stated the car was sourced from the Barcelona region of Spain where it had been stored in a barn for the last four or five years. Its truly a quite remarkable barn find as everything on the car is functioning as should bar the mechanical issues stated. The truck is just in need of some good TLC to reinstate the cosmetic appearance. The outcome of this would be a lovely collectable late-model given these two doors were only produced until 1994, thus making it one of the more collectable models. I hope this gives any prospective buyers an idea what could be done and how much it would cost. The VM engine was also used in many of the early Jeep Cherokee's so should be an easy truck to maintain in the US. Parts will be interchangeable with many Jeep's and would imagine readily available. List below of VM vehicle applications:HR 492 OHV2.4 L (2,393 cc or 146.0 cu in) I4, with two (pushrod-actuated) valves-per-cylinder and indirect fuel injection (Bosch VE 4/10, Spica in some earlier applications). 92.0 x 90.0 mm.
