Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVEGreat project car. One owner.2000 S500 Mercedes Sedan. To make it easy and fair, here are the issues I am aware of. 1) Needs new brake rotors/pads. As you search Ebay, you see that a decent set will run $290. Super easy do it yourself. I do all my cars. Great youtube video shows how easy it is. 2) Needs tires. A set of Kumho 225/60 R6 will run $298 at American Tire. Like that tire alot. 3) Airmatic pump has slow leek, some mornings you have to let car sit for a minute to fill up and level out. Can hear leak by pump. $139 on Ebay. Easy do-it yourself. Not essential for now, but should do it some time. Check youtube for great video 4) Driver side sun visor needs replacement. Two screws. $65 tops 5) Shop says Coilpack needs replacement, as car sputters at 4000 rpm, but smooth as silk up to there. Another easy e-bay item. $135. Take about 2.5 hrs to do all 8. Could also be O2 sensor, which is $35 part. Since no error code pops up for this, the real culprit I think is the Catalytic converter. The Catalytic on driver side, the Honeycomb is rattling. This is California car of course. Weld-on piece is $220. I wouldn't do coilpack until catalytic is done, and i bet $20 that is what is really causing the stutter while not showing an error code and not the coils. As is typical for this model, the passenger side doors both have some rust on bottom. On a California car that is actually still common for the model, it had a design flaw that trapped water. Note there is a seller in Monterey, CA with a pair of doors for $200. (Shell, same body color). So $1100 in and you have a solid, good looking and spacious car. Hope you appreciate the candor, wanted to disclose all I know. Paint is decent, some scuffs on bumpers. Car is accident free, scuffs as to be expected given age/miles. Serviced at Santa Barbara Motors (Mercedes Dealer). Heck, I'd buy it just for one of those trade-in new car promotions!
