The winner of the last listing disappeared. This past summer the head gasket started to leak and would pressurize the cooling system which would make it over heat. I have a e-39 528i and this car drives so much better than the 528i. It has 30 hp more. I just don't have the time to replace the head gasket. It turns over and sounds like it wants to start. It is a very strong running car and the compression readings were all very good. I have a brand new radiator in a box and a new fan clutch. I charged the AC and it blows nice and cold. I'm hoping a BMW enthusiast buys it and spends the couple hundred bucks in parts. and fixes it and will have an excellent everyday driver. A few summers ago I changed the head gasket on my 528i. That one had a crack in the head. With the welding and sll the valve work it came to $250 and I drive it every day. Or someone could part it out and make 4 fold on their money. I just don't have the time. Out of 16 years on eBay I have 100% positive feedback. I'm not trying to dump this on somebody. It's a nice car. On Nov-06-16 at 16:27:12 PST, seller added the following information: The E-39 528i has the 2.8 liter M52 engine. This has the 3 liter M-54 engine. The two cars are as different as night and day. The M-54 engine is so much stronger and responsive. If you are cruising 80mph on the highway it feels like you are going 50mph. When you put it in sport mode you can shift it like a stick shift just by moving the lever up or down. When you pass someone on the highway it's so easy. The car is so quiet inside. I had 2 325xis before I went to the 5 series. This car makes the 3 series feel like a go-cart. I thought about getting a super charger kit for $4995, which would add 100 hp. I couldn't imagine having more HP than the 540i, but being much lighter and having rack and pinion steering. The V8 in the 540i is to big and rack and pinion steering doesn't fit. This car has plenty of HP stock. The halos turn on when you turn the parking lights on. Then they stay on when the Xenon headlights are turned on. Much better than the stock headlights. The main dome light inside the car is LED. The person who wins this car will be a lucky person. In running condition this car would sell for $5000. I had that verified today. I started taking it apart because at first I intended to do the head gasket. All the parts are in the trunk along with every bolt. Nothing is missing. Now the valve cover can just lift right off and you can start taking the VANOS and head bolts out. I have all the special tools to line up the cams, so if you need to borrow them just let me know. Now would be a good time to rebuild the VANOS. VANOS is a German acronym for variable cam timing. It's pretty easy. Just look up The Besnian System for a dual vanos rebuild kit. They are much better than the factory BMW parts. It really does break my heart to have to sell this.
