Vehicle Detail

I'm sadly selling my 1966 Mercedes 230S FinTail. I have been very fond of Mercedes ever since I was a little kid. For decades I've collected quite a few Mercedes (mostly fintails) and I was in the process of building a garage but my plans have changed and I only have room for a couple and selling off the rest, this being one of them. This is a lovely original Burgundy W111 FinTail that starts every time since the day I bought it. I've owned it for over a decade, -bought it right here in San Francisco. It was my daily driver for over 5 years and I’ve driven San Francisco to Los Angeles and back over twenty times in it. I would not hesitate to drive it to Florida tomorrow. In the last few years I used it as a weekend car. When friends and family would visit I would loan them my company-car and drive this Benz myself. Ever since I bought this car it has been registered, insured and parked in our driveway ready to be driven. This is an all original Mercedes with the original Motor and Transmission. The Motor runs strong and the transmission shifts and operates as it should. I’ve done routine maintenance and never had any issues and it never left me stranded. The odometer says 01969 but it is 101,969. Because this was going to be my daily driver the first thing I did after buying it was to change the wheels from the original 13” to the 14” Coupe’ wheels to have a larger tire for driving on the Interstate. This allowed me to keep the original color matching center cap with the larger chrome MB beauty rims. Random points: -ZERO oil leaks. -The Wheels are larger 14” (from a 1966 250SE Coupe’) which includes the MB beauty rims. All four + one spare wheel were color matched to the body color. -It drives straight, but a tie rod could be worn. I do not feel unsafe driving it. -You have to go easy on the gas pedal on first acceleration but it runs perfect once you get a hang of it. It has been like this since the day I bought it.-It did have a little rust in the trunk under the mat, NOT in the wheel wells. I had it cleaned up and painted to protect it and It has not grown since I’ve owned it. I believe it is from previous moisture from before I bought it.-The tires have good tread although they are showing cracks from age-The pictures of the car were taken on June 3rd, 2016. -The condition of the interior is as pictured. The driver's seat is still firm and comfortable. -Interior flaws: There are cracks in the dash and normal wear for a 50 year old car.-The exterior paint looks great as the pictures show but is not original paint.(but same color)-It is 50 years old and was never restored so not everything is in perfect condition.-I believe this MB was originally from the west coast and doesn’t have the rust the tipical comes from the east coast.-Clean California Title My goal is to sell this Mercedes with a reasonable end-of-auction-bid. The reserve is set at what I consider a reasonable price. Good luck on your bidding.
