1998 Jaguar XJ-8 Quick Summary: It's a Beautiful , Solid, Clean Car in Great Condition. I would gauge this car as an 7 on a Scale of 10. The Transmission Issue needs servicing, but it runs & drives Very Smoothly with no Leaks or Bad Noises. I would Drive it anywhere. Great Interior. Non-Smoker car,Tires & Wheels are in great shape. No Electrical issues, Great Brakes, Mechanically very sound. To give a general idea of the condition, I have given my opinion based on a Scale of 1 –to- 10. Body: Good Condition (Approximately a 7 on a scale of 10). Solid Straight Body & Frame, no rust or damage. Newer paint but top has some peeling. A few dings which are not easily noticed.Sunroof is stuck closed, but does not leakAll Glass is in great shapeMechanical: Excellent Condition (Approximately a 9 on a scale of 10).Starts, Runs, Idles, Drives Great & Has Excellent Power. Very SMOOTH & is Free of bad noises, leaks or smoke.Engine Compartment is great & unmolested.Cooling System functions properly (gets to the right temp & does not overheat or leak or anything bad)A/C Blows NICE & COLDTransmission: (Approximately a 6 on a scale of 10).The Transmission functions Smoothly after a slow engagement into 1st gear. After that, it runs great at speed. I have no qualms about driving it anywhere, but will likely need a transmission specialist to identify & resolve the issue.New (Correct spec) Fluid & Filter changed last monthBrakes & Rear End: Excellent Condition (Approximately a 9 on a scale of 10).Rotors & Pads probably have less than 500 miles on themStops STRAIGHT & with no warpage.Interior: Very Good Condition (Approximately a 7 on a scale of 10).There are minor stains on the carpet & some panelsAll Seat Leather is very nice with no rips or tears (very rare) & are very presentableInterior Console & Dash Surfaces are in great shape. Everything works. Suspension: Excellent Condition (Approximately an 8 on a scale of 10).Nice, STRAIGHT Steering & does not wanderShock towers bushings may need replacement in the next year or two, but this is an easy minor, cheap fix.Electrical: Excellent Condition (Approximately an 8 on a scale of 10).All major components are in great shape (battery, alternator,wiring,fuses,etc). Has not been modified or hacked up.Alternator charges properly. Battery holds a charge All Controls & Switches work except for some minor quirks(seat memory, power antenna)All lights, wipers, heat & A/C, gauges, seats function properlyTires & Wheels: Excellent Condition (Approximately a 9 on a scale of 10).Tires (5) have a lot of tread (+/- 3yrs) remainingAluminum Wheels (5) are in great shape I am selling because I have too many cars & my main need is for a truck. As I am 'motivated', I am looking to sell at a price that may be much less than other vehicles of the same model. If I was to keep this car, I would like to address the minor cosmetics & get rid of the transmission delay. The majority of the issues as you can see, are minor. This is a wonderful car to drive & invariably, I will get compliments when I am out & about. This car needs a new home with someone who really appreciates the beauty & quality of a Jaguar.
