THE BEST PART IT'S A CONVERTIBLE. IF YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A SOLID NUMBERS MATCHING K CODE TO RESTORE THAT'S ONLY HAD ONE OWNER WITH DOCUMENTATION THEN THIS IS YOUR CAR. UNTIL RECENTLY HADN'T SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAY FOR NEARLY 40 YEARS. FORD DESTROYED THE OFFICIAL PRODUCTION RECORDS FOR THE EARLY MUSTANGS SO THE EXACT PRODUCTION NUMBERS ARE NOT KNOWN. PER THE K CODE REGISTRY BETWEEN 1964.5 TO 1967 THERE WERE 1.7 MILLION MUSTANGS THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN PRODUCED. ONLY 13,231 OUT OF THE 1.7 MILLION WERE K CODES. IT IS COMPLETE NUMBERS MATCHING INCLUDING ALL OF THE FOLLOWING ORIGINAL PARTS 289 HI-PO MOTOR, HEADS, INTAKE, AND EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. ORIGINAL TOP LOADER 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND 9" REAR END THAT IT WAS BORN WITH, AND HI-PO OPTION FRONT DISC BRAKES. AUTOLITE 4100 4 BARREL CARBURETOR THAT'S ALSO THE ORIGINAL. FACTORY VINTAGE BURGUNDY PAINT WITH ORIGINAL PALOMINO TOP AND INTERIOR. BUILT APRIL 30 1965 IN DEARBOURN AND SENT TO THE RICHMOND DISTRICT. IT IS A TRUE ONE OWNER CAR THAT WAS PURCHASED FROM BOTETOURT COUNTY MOTOR COMPANY ON MAY 5 1965. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL YELLOW VIRGINIA TITLE, ORIGINAL BILL OF SALE AND ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL, ALSO SOME OTHER VA DMV DOCUMENTATION., ALL OF THIS IS STILL IN THE ORIGINAL OWNERS NAME. I ALSO HAVE A 1965 ORIGINAL REPAIR MANUAL AND OTHER BOOKS FROM HIS RESEARCH THAT ARE ALSO INCLUDED. THIS CAR WAS HIS DAILY DRIVER UNTIL AROUND 1978. WITH THE ODOMETER SHOWING 103,000 HE DECIDED TO START A RESTORATION ON HIS OWN. AFTER ALL THAT IS WHAT YOU DID WHEN A CAR REACHED 100,000 MILES BACK THEN. HE LITERALLY DROVE IT INTO HIS GARAGE AND STARTED TO DISSASEMBLE IT. IT APPEARS HE CATALOGED, BOXED, AND LABELED EVERY NUT AND BOLT THAT WAS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE. IT ALSO SEAMS THAT HE SAVED EVERY OLD PIECE THAT WAS REMOVED EXCEPT FOR THE CARPET. A LITTLE BACKGROUND ABOUT THE OWNER. HE WAS NEVER MARRIED HAD NO CHILDREN.HE WAS A MECHANICAL ENGINEER BY TRADE AND A VERY METICULOUS PERSON WHO PAINSTAKINGLY PERFECTED EVERYTHING HE DID TO THE POINT OF OBSESSION. HE DOCUMENTED EVERYTHING IN A JOURNAL ABOUT THE VEHICLE AND THE TIME HE SPENT WORKING ON THE CAR. HE TAUGHT HIMSELF HOW TO WELD AND EVEN MENTIONS HIS PRACTICE ATTEMPTS AT WELDING VARIOUS METALS IN THIS JOURNAL. AFTER PERFECTING HIS SKILLS HE WENT ON TO WELD A COMPLETE FLOOR PAN IN THE CAR AND PATCH THE LOWER REAR QUARTERS. THE REPLACEMENTS WERE ORIGINAL TYPE PANELS PURCHASED FROM TJ'S MUSTANG IN SALEM VA. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURES THESE PANELS ARE JUST ROUGHED IN AND WILL NEED FINISHING. THE FLOOR PAN IS WELDED AND FINISHED NICELY. THE REST OF THE BODY ON THIS CAR IS IN UNBELIEVABLE CONDITION. THERE IS ZERO RUST IN THE DOORS OR FENDERS AND THE ROCKERS ARE IN GREAT SHAPE AS WELL. ALL STILL HAVE ORIGINAL PAINT. THE HOOD AND TRUNK LID ARE ALSO RUST FREE WITH ORIGINAL PAINT. THROUGHOUT THE YEARS THE CAR CONTINUED TO SIT AND HE WOULD WORK A LITTLE HERE AND THERE ON IT IN HIS SMALL 2 CAR GARAGE WITH WOODEN FLOORS. HE DID A LOT OF RESEARCH ON VARIOUS TOPICS INCLUDING TOYING WITH REPLACING THE ORIGINAL DRIVE LINE WITH THAT FROM A 90'S MODEL GT. THANK GOODNESS HE DIDN'T. ALL THIS IS DOCUMENTED IN HIS JOURNAL. HE ALSO MENTIONS THROUGHOUT THE YEARS HIS PLIGHT WITH MAYBE NEVER GETTING TO FINISH THE CAR AND HIS PHYSICAL CONDITION OF JUST NOT HAVING THE ENERGY TO WORK ON IT. SADLY HE NEVER DID GET TO FINISH IT OR SEE IT DONE. THAT'S WHERE YOU COME IN. AS PARTS WERE REMOVED FROM THE CAR THEY WERE SENT OUT EITHER TO BE CLEANED OR REBUILT. I HAVE RECEIPTS FOR FOLLOWING THINGS. MOTOR HAS BEEN GONE THROUGH AND HAS BEEN REFURBISHED BUT WAS NEVER REINSTALLED.. HEADS HAVE BEEN WORKED. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN DISASSEMBLED AND CLEANED BUT NEEDS TO BE PUT BACK TOGETHER. THE ORIGINAL STARTER HAS BEEN REBUILT, ORIGINAL RADIATOR FLUSHED AND REPAIRED AS NEEDED. ORIGINAL CARBURETOR HAS BEEN REBUILT. THESE ARE JUST THE THINGS I CAN THINK OF OFF HAND. THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER RECEIPTS FOR SEALS AND PARTS AND WHAT NOT. ALTHOUGH THIS WORK HAS BEEN PERFORMED IT WAS DONE SOME YEARS AGO AND MAY HAVE TO BE REDONE OR AT THE LEAST LOOKED AT. AS A SIDE NOTE. THE ENGINE WAS REASSEMBLED ON A STAND AND STILL REMAINS ON THAT STAND TO DATE. POINT IS THAT IT WAS COVERED AND KEPT OFF THE GROUND WITH TAPE COVERING ALL OPENINGS. THE ORIGINAL GAS TANK IS CLEAN AND LOOKS READY TO REINSTALL ALSO. THE ORIGINAL OWNERS NEPHEW AND I WENT THROUGH THE LIST AND CORRESPONDING BOXES TO INSURE CERTAIN THINGS WERE PRESENT AND ACCOUNTED FOR. IT SEEMS TO BE ALL THERE RIGHT DOWN TO THE ORIGINAL INTERIOR MINUS CARPET. THE DRIVER SEAT IS ONLY ONE SHOWING ANY WEAR TO SPEAK OF. THE REST HAS SOME DISCOLORATION FROM SUN. THE ORIGINAL BUMPERS ONLY SHOW MINIMAL WEAR AND THE CHROME IS GOOD. THE ORIGINAL RADIO IS ALSO THERE. I ALSO HAVE THE FACTORY HUBCAPS THAT CAME ON THE CAR IN 1965. THE FRONT HEADER PANEL AND BOTH FRONT AND REAR BUMPER VALANCES ARE IN GREAT SHAPE AS WELL. I HAVE TOYED WITH THE IDEA OF HAVING THIS CAR PUT BACK TOGETHER IN DRIVER CONDITION BUT KNOWING HOW RARE THIS CAR IS AND THE ATTENTION IT REALLY DESERVES I CAN'T AFFORD TO DO AT THIS STAGE. IT NEEDS TO GO TO SOMEONE WHO HAS THE KNOWLEDGE AND PASSION TO FULLY RESTORE THIS CAR AND PUT IT BACK ON THE ROAD TO DRIVE AND ENJOY AND TELL THE STORY BEHIND IT. SO ALL THAT BEING SAID THE MUSTANG IS BEING SOLD IN AS IS CONDITION WITH NO WARRANTY OR GUARANTEES. AS FAR AS I KNOW ALL THE MAJOR PARTS THAT MAKE THIS CAR A TRUE K CODE ARE THERE AND ARE ORIGINAL TO THE VEHICLE. I OBVIOUSLY CAN'T KNOW FOR SURE IF ALL THE SMALL BOLTS OR MINOR PIECES ARE THERE BUT EVERYTHING HE ACCOUNTED FOR IN HIS JOURNAL HAS BEEN IN THE CORRECT BOX HE SAID IT WAS, SO I CAN'T HELP BUT THINK IT'S ALL THERE.
