Vehicle Detail
Up for auction 1975 Honda XL350 single. Engine overhauled, new tires and tubes, new chain, new battery, new handle bars, new grips, new brake and clutch cable. Usually starts first or second kick. Engine:Totally disassembled. Inspected all internal parts (see pics). Put transmission shafts on lathe, check run-out, they are perfect. Inspected all gears and shift forks, all perfect. Checked trueness of crank shaft, almost perfect. Checked rod big end clearance, side and lateral, all within factory specs. Checked piston and bore, .004 clearance. Installed new rings, reused old piston, 2 new piston retaining clips. Replaced both intake valves, re-cut seats, exhaust valves were fine, just needed cleaned up and re-lapped. New cam chain and of course new gaskets and seals. Cleaned carb, installed kit. Motor runs perfect, clutch works perfect, oil on dip stick is spotless. Have run for about 5 hours. When I overhaul these old Hondas I start them up and run them for 1/2 hour then I immediately change the oil. So, this oil has probably 4 hours on it. Frame and Chassis:New tires, tubes front and rear. Tighten spokes and trued rims while I had tires off. Spokes have surface rust but nipples turned fine. Rear shocks have surface rust but are working. Front forks, no leaks. Brand new handle bars and grips. New battery. Bad stuff:No title!! Off road use only. You could easily get a title. Will provide with bill of sale or whatever you may require. Gas tank has dents and slight surface rust inside. Missing battery cover, lights do not work. Key is missing (just unplug and bike will work). Exhaust has had many repairs and is missing its baffle, so it is louder than stock. Seat has rips and pan has rust holes but is totally repairable. Needs front brake shoes. Good Stuff:Rare Honda bike. Runs excellent. A great candidate for vintage motocross racer or if you have one you are restoring you know what engine work costs. Or ride it like it is. We have a reserve of $1000 set for it. I am a 25 year Japanese motorcycle technician so all work is done correctly and by the book. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Really sweet old bike, a lot of fun to ride. Lots of potential! If you want to buy it now, contact us and we will arrange. Thank you for looking.
