Vehicle Detail

DRY ARIZONA BUS Please note, I purchased the bus with the "Roof Delete" already done. The first thing I did to the bus was sand off a lifetime of paint oxidation. There I found the ORIGINAL Velvet Green paint the same paint that is within the doors and behind the rear valance. (See pics) Also there is ZERO body filler to be found anywhere on this bus. No accidents ever. WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. Whoever did the metal fabrication (ie; roof delete, installed a new front floor pan and repaired passenger rocker panel) did a pro job. There is a rust hole behind the barn doors at the rocker panel that will have to be addressed, as well as several small dings. Welded in place is an L shaped structure designed for bench seat, which could be removed quite easily. Again I have to mention how straight, solid and original this bus shell is. This bus is in remarkable condition for a 51 year old vehicle. The rear corners are original, even the battery area is great. The entire front end is super straight (I had to sand through primer to verify). The doors are beautiful top and bottom, and the sides are great, as well. Crawling around below inspecting the floor and all the inner panels tells the same story.... beautiful! I took many pictures "before primer was applied" for your better inspection. MECHANICAL The previous owner stated that the 1500 cc engine was new with zero miles on it. I have no way of verifying this, but the engine appears to be new with many new parts. The oil looks clear and the heads look brand new under the valve covers (see pics), and no oil build up anywhere. I recently fired the engine up and it sounded great with no ill noises. He also stated the he spent nearly $15,000 thus far on body fabrication, suspension, and mechanical work. There are also new steering components, a complete "disc brake" front end, and an adjustable rear suspension setup. I do not know the status of the transmission, but could guess it has been checked out - It also looks refurbished. Although the factory wires are in place, the bus will need electrical work and brake work to be driveable. All things considered, I feel this will be an easy project. There is very little to buy in terms of glass, seals, trim, weatherstripping, and you'd have a tremendous head start due to the new engine and super straight body. Build yourself a "Tiki" themed limo, or cool Sunday cruiser. Google convertible VW Bus for cool ideas! If you'd like to see more pics, I have a Photobucket gallery of 100+ pictures. Feel free to contact me for that Photobucket link. To hear the bus run, search "1965 VW Bus Roof Delete" on YouTube. I have the clear Arizona title along with the matching roof console VIN tag.
