For auction. 1957 BMW R26 Motorcycle. Note: Title and frame plate say 1957 however, serial number lookup shows manufacture date of 12.10.1956. Matching Frame and Engine numbers. Ohio title has MILEAGE of 15,291, however, the speedometer is in Kilometers. The original speedometer is included with the bike but I replaced it because the needle was scraping the face and it was faded (see photos). Since purchase and rebuild it has accumulated 776 km. The bike includes an amazing amount of documentation of it's history, much of it in German. Records and serial numbers show this bike was not originally imported into the United States but was shipped over in the 1970s. Documentation is too extensive to list, see photos. The rear wheel is missing one spoke and has a very slight dent. An additional wheel in very good shape is included with the bike, however it rides great on the wheel currently installed on the bike. This bike is an indescribable joy to ride and I have ridden it to events and long rides in the countryside. Always kept indoors when in my ownership. Starts and runs easily, no known mechanical issues. The engine top and bottom was completely rebuilt by Bench Mark Works and the wiring harness and electrical system replaced with a new German12 volt system. I added the handlebar turn signals (aftermarket) myself and they are not wired to original specifications. All new engine bearings, crank, piston and related parts (receipts included). I believe the headlight rim to be original period aftermarket, I believe the front fender to be a BMW light fender. Where possible all paint and finish is original. Tank interior is clean and rust free, a modern petcock has been installed. Key for forks and tank storage is included. BMW sidestand is installed as well as centerstand. Deep oil sump has been installed (helps cooling, extends engine life). Buyers are strongly encouraged to see the bike in person, I am available weekdays except Thursdays after 6pm before 9pm. Sale is final. Funds must clear before taking possession of the bike. I am not willing to ship, however I am happy to work out a time for a UShip driver to pickup the bike outside of my working hours. I will not crate the bike nor be responsible for any shipping or packing damage. I am willing to deliver the bike to any location within 100 miles of Batavia Ohio outside of my working hours for .25 cents per mile round trip. If you need extra time to arrange shipping or pickup, I can store the bike in a secure building, but payment must be made on auction terms, contact me prior to bidding for arrangements.
