We are proud to offer this One Owner 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo, known internally as the (951), its condition and maintenance history will not disappoint. We found this gem in Southern California where it appears to have sent a majority of its life either under a car cover or in the garage. Owned its whole life by a Pilot turned Engineer, this car appears always well cared for and we feel is in the top 10% of examples out there. The gentleman that owned the car took meticulous care of it, attested to by its overall timeless condition and receipts. The 944 Turbo had seat covers on it almost immediately after leaving the dealership along with a dash mat. Ordered without a Sunroof and rear wiper. This 944 Turbo also comes with copies of its service history dating back to 1986 to current. Just to eliminate the worries for the next owner, we did a full service including water pump and timing belt that was just completed here at Flat 12 Gallery. That means it has a New Water Pump, New Belts, New Front Engine Seals, New Cam Bolt, New Thermostat and Seal and new A/C Compressor so the A/C blows cold. This car is in amazing condition and ready for many many more miles with its new owner. Please note that the odometer is inoperable and is the only item we could find not functioning correctly. Finished in rare, up-charged color of, Garnet Red Metallic and also has the upgraded ordered partial leather front seats and protective side moldings. No cracks in the dash and basically breathtaking interior. This is a very nice example that does show some hazing of the original Metallic on the passengers side door and has some touched up rock chips on the nose. Overall the paint and interior is in excellent condition as referenced in the photographs. It used the 924 platform that remained in production until 1988. The 944 was available in coupé or cabriolet body styles, with either naturally aspirated or turbocharged engines. For the 1985 model year, Porsche introduced the 944 Turbo, known internally as the 951. This had a turbocharged and intercooled version of the standard car's engine that produced 220 PS (162 kW) (217 bhp (162 kW) in the US) at 6000 rpm. In 1987, Car and Driver tested the 944 Turbo and achieved a 0-60 mph time of 5.9 seconds. The turbo was the first car using a ceramic port liner to retain exhaust gas temperature and new forged pistons and was also the first vehicle to produce identical power output with or without a catalytic converter. The Turbo also featured several other changes, such as improved aerodynamics, notably an integrated front bumper. This featured the widest turn signals (indicators) fitted to any production car, a strengthened gearbox with a different final drive ratio, standard external oil coolers for both the engine and transmission, standard 16 inch wheels (optional forged Fuchs wheels), and a slightly stiffer suspension (progressive springs) to handle the extra weight. The Turbo's front and rear brakes were borrowed from the Porsche 911, with Brembo 4-piston fixed calipers and 12-inch discs as ABS also came standard.
