Vehicle Detail
Here's the info on my 2001 VX... I've had it since new, and it has 143,000 miles on it now. Well cared for, and I'm a non-smoker. Only minor mechanical, cosmetic, and rust issues. First, the good...This VehiCROSS drives great, shifts smooth, and does not burn oil like some of the others do. The VX got a new transmission under warranty at 113,000 miles. Both front axle shafts were replaced in 2012 @ 126,000 miles. I had the transfer case rebuilt in 2013 @ 129,000 miles (which started a front wheel binding issue when making sharp turns), so it was re-done at 132,000 miles (a new trans. mount went on at this time as well). That still did not completely eliminate the problem, so I ended the binding issue with a set of manual locking hubs from Independent4x (TOD/4LOW work when hubs are locked), but the TOD check light still flashes every now & then. Modifications include a very rare rare first generation Power Vault cat-back exhaust system made specifically for the VehiCROSS, a K&N cold air intake, a 2" lift with OME shocks (installed 2014 @ 136,500 miles) and OME 912 springs, 31" BFG ATs on 15" Dick Cepek DC1 rims and a 31" Pro Comp AT spare on a cheep steel wheel, a Cobra CB mounted under driver's seat, and Piaa driving lights in front cladding. Off road protection comes from Rocky Road Super Sliders and rear diff. guard, ISUZU Trooper transfer case skid plate, and an aluminum front skid plate custom made by Tone. Thanks to Tone, the VX also has a hitch that I use to protect the back end with a Sparebumper "safety bumper" and a module that pulses the 3rd brake light. The VehiCROSS comes with the factory roof rack cross bars and a Yakima Load Warrior basket to carry the full size spare. Speaking of spares... I have a spare black & grey steering wheel, a spare rear spoiler/3rd brake light, a spare passenger side door cladding (mine got scuffed a bit on Kane Creek in Moab), a spare gas door cover, and a spare passenger side airbag that I scored from other club members. Also... I replaced the old rusted front bumper support and gas tank with like new parts thanks to Jo in California. When the gas tank was replaced, I had an access panel cut in the floor of the VX to ease any fuel pump replacement down the road. The AM/FM cassette was replaced by an Alpine AM/FM/CD, and the 6-disc changer that never worked well was replaced by a blank that used to hold my old iPod. WeatherTech floor mats and wind deflectors too! The bad... ABS light has been on for a long time, but I never felt the need to fix it. The leading edge of the hood was hit by road debris a long time ago and needed a dent repaired. There is minor rust from being in the Midwest all its life (mostly undercarriage, but a few spots on the roof and elsewhere). There are a couple of chips in the windshield, but no cracks. The rear door spare tire cover is missing one of the four screws, and the donut spare is long gone (though that's not a bad thing). There's a small paint stain on the carpet in back (don't even know how that happened), and the usual wear & tear, paint chips, etc. that you would expect in a 15 year old daily driver, but is still one of the best around. I am not interested in parting out this VehiCROSS, the extras that I mentioned go to the highest bidder, and the bidding starts at $5000. Thank you for your interest in this rare vehicle.
