Offered for sale is a gorgeous, entirely original, 77k original mile, four-owner, 1996 BMW 840Ci, finished in desirable factory original black over black Nappa leather interior. I purchased the car in January-2014 from a collector in Albuquerque, NM. Prior to that the vehicle was registered in Jacksonville, Fla. As such, the car remains in impeccable original condition, has never been in an accident and is entirely stock and original, a true time capsule for the BMW enthusiast. I have driven this vehicle less than 1K miles in the two years that I have owned it...driving being limited to BMWCCA club events and cruise nights. The car’s original black finish is in exceptional condition, marred onlya few barely visible stone chips at the front of the hood and one scratch in the front left bumper cover...such imperfections are typical to any 20 year-old car, none of which are significant enough to appear in the pictures. The body is entirely straight, with factory consistent panel fits and gaps throughout, and all of the trim and glass is in excellent condition. The lamp lenses are all crisp and clear and the factory wheels are flawless and wrapped in virtually unused Khumo tires. The car’s interior is equally as clean, the Nappa leather seats showing only minimal wear, the carpets tidy and unmolested and the dash and interior panels all in excellent original condition. The previous owner had the 3M window tint professionally applied to preserve the leather interior. The original headliner was also replaced by the previous owner, a known problem among BMW E31 owners. I have a brand new factory oem lower front spoiler that is ready to be mounted if the new owner desires. Because of the vehicle low ride height on the 8-series, the front spoiler is particularly vulnerable to parking lot curb blocks and speed bumps. The car is mechanically excellent, the original M62 4.4L V8 engine starting effortlessly, pulling strongly and smoothly through each of the gears with expectedly even compression across all eight cylinders. The M62 engine is the highly preferred drivetrain as it represents BMW's replacement of the "plagued" M60 4.0L engine with the notorious Nikasil block. Ride quality is immaculate, the suspension and brakes each functioning flawlessly, rounding out a solid and secure driving experience that causes one to truly appreciate the incalculable engineering that went into the 8 series.The only item needing attention on this car is the driver's seat fore/aft adjusting cable. This is a common problem on the E31 8-series, and many articles have been posted on "Bimmer Forums / E31 Series" that describe an easy and inexpensive cable adjustment that can be done a "DIY" owner.The car comes with all of its original books and manuals, both of it’s original main remote keys (and valet keys), its original tool-kit, the original BMW in-dash receiver and trunk mounted CD changer and a clean AutoCheck report, validating its ownership, low mileage and accident free history. Of note to collectors, there were only 801 BMW 840ci imported into the US with the 4.4L M62 from 5/95 - 8/97. This vehicle was designed and marketed by BMW to compete in the European "super coupe" market, against the likes of Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari and Lamborghini.
