Up for sale 1974 VW Camper van. Air cooled 4 cylinder with a 4 speed manual trans , This is a good solid restoration PROJECT or with a little maintenance and a few repairs it could be driven like it is survivor style. The previous owner was driving it occasionally up until about 2 years ago and it has been sitting since. I drained the gas and installed a new coil ,fuel filter and points and it now fires right up and the engine sounds great with no knocks or smoke but it could probably use a carb cleaning and a tune up. The brakes including the e-brake all work well. I drove it up and down the street and the clutch feels great and ran it through all 4 gears with no problems. All the glass is good except the front windshield is cracked. The windows roll up and down and the side jealousy windows function as they should however one is missing a knob. The camper top gos up and down fine but needs canvas. All doors open and shut fine including the hood and hatch except the sliding door has some latch issues. The heat controls are in the dash but the knobs are missing. The ignition switch has been replaced with an aftermarket style switch that is mounted on the column and the turn signal and headlight dimmer levers are mounted loosely on the column and are missing some screws and are also unpluged. I have not tested the sink or any of the other camper stuff. The tires all seem to hold air but 2 have some dry rot and they are not all the same size. the muffler has rust holes and needs replaced. The head lights and tail lights turn on but no brake lights when I push the pedal but there are some wires unplugged under the dash from when the PO was working on the ignition and I think that could be the problem. Please remember this is a project and because of the tires and brake lights it will need to be trailered. I will try and post some more pics when the snow stops. I tried to describe what I have found that needs attention but I have not owned this van for very long and I do not know a lot about these VW Vanagon's so if you are a VW Van person most likely know more about it than I do and you know what you are looking for.
