Vehicle Detail
I bought this car as a summer project. It was bone stock right down to the air filter. I wanted to do my version of Brenspeeds project high mile. You can check out the 3 part series on their web site. The only difference is I didn't do underdrive pulleys or the high dollar intake manifold and throttle body. Instead I installed a set of 4:10 gears and got the same results. Here's the rundown of what I did and the outcome. I took it to the track bone stock with no mods for a base line. I made 4 passes with a best pass of 13.96. I took it back to my shop and started work. I installed a set of Brenspeeds Detroit Rocker cams, Steeda Charge Motion Delete Plates, JLT Series 3 cold air intake, Ford Racing 4:10 gears. I also took the opportunity to replace the timing chains, tensioners, guides, and phazers, change all the fluids and install a fresh set of plugs. What a difference! I went back to the track and made 4 more, very traction limited passes. This time the car went a best of 13.31! For the last round of updates, I installed a set of BMR lower control arms and a Roush anti-wheel hop kit consisting of an upper arm and mounting bracket. I added a set of Pypes stainless steel headers and off road X pipe with a set of flowmaster mufflers. I also added a set of drag radial and went back for the last 4 passes. I was rewarded with a best of 12.83! Beyond all the mods, let me just add that this is a great car in great shape! There is no rust on the car and the body and interior are in excellent condition. The only flaws I know of are two small dings, one in each rear quarter, and the carpet on the drivers side has a couple of spots worn through. There is also a small stone chip on the windshield that has been repaired but is still visible. Everything else on the car is in excellent shape. The suspension and steering are tight and the care runs and drives excellent! The Mach 1000 stereo and 6 disc sounds awesome and rocks! I tinted the marker lights and put a light tint on the tail lights and installed a black out cover on the GT emblem on tail light panel. The car sounds awesome with the Detroit Rockers delivering that old school muscle car sound through the headers and exhaust but it still drives like stock. Here is your chance to buy a proven car that was stock until about 2000 miles ago and only has a few passes on it so you know it hasn't been beaten to death. I am a Ford Master certified tech with 30 years of experience so you can be confident it was done right. Don't miss out on this opportunity! Good luck!
