Unlike a pickup truck, the Ranchero was adapted from a two-door station wagon platform that integrated the cab and cargo bed into the body. Its unique design with stylish and utilitarian design spawned a competitor from General Motors with the Chevrolet El Camino. 2nd generation Rancheros are coveted by collectors worldwide however, 50 years after production of the series ended, original examples are almost impossible to find. Especially the early “Falcon Ranchero” which commands a premium among enthusiasts.
