The engine was repleaced with a factory new crate engine (not rebuilt), the result of mechanic's error at a local "quick lube" shop. The new engine was installed by an independent BMW service facility well known to the BMWCCA community. Mechanically the only known issue is an occasional rattle from the exhaust. The body is in very good condition...reflecting its first seven years in California. No dents but there is a small paint scrape and ding in the lower right rear quarter (shown in pictures). There is also a small ding below the driver's side headlamp (also shown in pictures) The paint is original and still retains a nice shine, though there are some "acid rain" marks particularly on the hood that didn't buff out. Only visible on close inspection. The rear mounted radio antennae needs a new base gasket. The dash and console are in perfect condition. The front seats are also in excellent condition showing no rips, holes, or split seams.. Rear seat has typical stitching separation from UV exposure that is common among E30 and E36 convertibles. The rare factory hardtop comes with a cover and storage stand (see picture). The headliner to the hardtop has stretched some (some minor sag) but could be restretched to make taut again. These factory hardtops are very difficult to come by and usually sell for $1200-1500 when seen on eBay. There is also a car cover included with the purchase of the car.Pre-purchase inspections in Acton, MA can be arranged prior to bidding. Once you bid, you are under contractual obligation to make the purchase. Buyer is responsible for arranging any shipping required. I am willing to meet the shipper and oversee the loading of the vehicle. And will provide the buyer with detailed photo's of vehicle condition prior to transport if requested.
