Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1981 Honda Passport This is a 1981 Honda Passport that is in almost perfect condition with all of the original parts with only 2772 miles, runs like a top, starts on the button with electric start or kick start. It starts easily, gets up and goes, blinkers work, lights light up just as one would expect from a low mileage Honda. This is a very nice and hard to find Passport in exceptional condition that has not been restored. It has a three speed automatic clutch, is very easy to ride, easy to park, and gets close to a hundred miles per gallon. No clutch, shift by letting up on the gas and working the foot shifter which had fore and aft positions. Easy to use and anybody can drive it. Top speed is around 40-45 mph, depending on load. The Passport can carry two people and has rear passenger footpegs. Great for just riding about town or using with a RV when camping. It has the optional luggage racks in the front and in the back of the bike. It has the original Bridgestone tire in the front and I replaced the rear tire about five years ago. It has the original enclosed chain cover which are very hard to find – most Passports do not still have the complete chain cover. This bike has been inside my museum with gas drained and battery removed since 2010. A brief history of the Honda Cub/Passport is that most importantly it is the top selling motorized vehicle of any kind in in the world and vehicle history. The greatest motorcycle ever built according to Discovery Channels Top Ten Motorcycles of all time. Timeless, bulletproof, indestructible, legendary. During the Viet Nam war these simple bikes were repaired by enterprising young Vietnamese on the streets of Saigon in the time it took a young GI to drink a cold beer! You meet the nicest people on a Honda! Debuted in 1958 as the Honda Cub, this fine example I have for sale was made three years prior to the last year the Cub was imported stateside, by then known as the Honda Passport. This bike even has the original tool kit which is located in the left hand side cover – see picture of tools. I also removed the gas tank on this bike in 2010 and RENU’ed the entire gas tank which is sandblast the inside of the tank, steam clean the inside and outside of the tank and apply RENU coating, which cost over $125 five years ago. Its not a perfect show bike but is very close and would certainly do any collector proud. It looks new! I bought this bike in 2010 and when ridden it always received much attention and comments about its original condition and classic looks. I kept the old battery and stopped charging it after a couple years so the bike will be sold with the old battery, but will need to be replaced. Also the bike will be sold with the gas drained because I am not going to go through all the effort of buying a new battery, installing gas etc. if it does not hit my reserve price. I will just leave it inside my museum if that is the case. Speaking of my reserve price please do not ask me what it is, because I will not tell you, and it is not fair to other potential bidders. The motorcycle will be sold as-is, with no warranties implied and it comes with a valid California title that is in my name and has not been signed or dated. Some people say that they have the title but it could be in someone else’s name, signed and dated and California DMV will charge you hefty late penalty fees, if more that 30 days since date of sale. The bike has been on non -operational status with DMV since 2009. Just take the title to DMV and it will be transferred into your name – no need to bring the bike to get verified. The bike is located in Southern California between Los Angeles and San Diego. Please check my Ebay history – I have close to 200 positive feedbacks and it is at 100% satisfaction for a reason. Ninety five percent of my Ebay sales are related to mini bikes, motorcycles and/or motorcycle parts. I have been riding, racing, restoring and collecting motorcycles for over 45 years. I also have several transport contacts and can get this Honda transported almost anywhere in the United States for much less that most motorcycle transporters and USHIP. I also have transported motorcycles to Australia and Europe and I have no issues selling to anyone out of the country. I can also ship to Japan where this bike is very sought after. I know of several international transporters and I will charge $150 to assist you with the logistics and finding a shipper. This also includes getting the bike to the transporter/logistics, plus fifty cents a mile, both ways. You pay the transporter to get it over the ocean. I will also transport this bike in Southern California and possibly further for fifty cents per mile, both ways. As you can tell from the pictures, this is a great bike to have. Please contact me with any questions or if you would like other pictures. You are welcome and encouraged to see this bike in person before the auction ends – just send me a question and I will provide on site viewing details. Please no tire kickers – only serious buyers that really want to buy it. Please check out my other Ebay motorcycle listings – an original, rare and collectible 1969 Suzuki T350, a very collectible Kawasaki 500 Mach III triple, a 1969 Hodaka and a 1985 Husqvarna 250 CR, as well as a variety of motorcycle and mini bike parts that are being sold for much less than most motorcycle parts on Ebay. Also a very rare, exceptionally restored, Rickman fiberglass gas tank with petcock and cap. If you are new to eBay, then you may not be aware that your bid means you are buying what you are bidding on. If you have zero feedback you must contact me to let me know that you are serious about completing the sale or I will cancel your bid. Please, please bid only if you really want the item. I am not desperate to sell, am not a dealer, I don't do this for a living, I am a motorcycle enthusiast. If you'd like any detailed photos of a specific area of the bike, just ask! Please ask any questions you like before bidding. You will be answered quickly and honestly. With all the bikes I have owned over the years, I know how disappointing it is when someone over sells a bikes condition so you may be sure I won't do that to you. I have disclosed and will gladly provide photos of all known defects for your inspection. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time in order to sell this item locally as well and if not…this bike will go to the highest bidder here on Ebay!
