Vehicle Detail
This is a 1969 Ford Fairlane with a 351 Windsor and a C6 transmission. The engine was recently rebuilt but has some bearing noise upon deceleration when warm. It sounds good when idling and has good oil pressure. The engine will require disassembly and probably bearings. The person I purchased the car from most likely did not clean the block properly before assembly and some bearing damage occurred. The previous owner told me that the engine was bored with new pistons, rings, bearings, etc. The heads were refurbished at a local machine shop. They are later model heads from a 302. The engine does have a comp cams 280 magnum cam, a weiand stealth intake manifold, headers, and an aftermarket H.E.I. distributor with new plug wires. I only know what I was told about the engine so I can't be positive about the rebuild, but I can see that the intake manifold and headers are there, and I personally installed the H.E.I. and wires. The transmission is a C6 and there is a problem with second gear. This could be as simple as a band adjustment or may require a rebuild. This vehicle will need a complete interior, most of it is there, but it will need to be replaced or restored. On a positive note the dash pad is in good condition and both seats are there. The body on this vehicle is in good condition. The paint is 8-10 years old and there are no rusted areas, dents, or wavy panels. I think the patina looks pretty good on this car and if the mechanical problems are addressed this could be a very inexpensive way to have a high performance classic car. The tires will need to be replaced as they have sat for some time and are dry rotted. I am also not a fan of these wheels for this vehicle and I would replace them if I were going to rebuild it. The only rusted areas that I have found are the front floorboards, there is some rust in this area but it can be easily patched. This is an excellent project car and will not be difficult to get back on the road. The reserve will be met with the opening bid. Thanks for looking, please feel free to ask any questions. On Oct-18-15 at 19:54:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I added some additional pictures of the rusted floorboards, interior, and engine compartment. The drivers side floorboard has a patch that was riveted in and should be welded and sealed, the passenger side floorboard will need a small patch welded and sealed, and the transmission tunnel will need to be modified for the C-6 shifter linkage. I can perform these repairs for an additional charge after the auction, if needed. The car is a "barn find" and has not been cleaned other than a quick wash job on the exterior. The dash is in good shape and will clean up easily. The unibody and torque boxes are really nice with no structural damage or rust that I can find. Thanks for lookingOn Oct-20-15 at 07:47:33 PDT, seller added the following information: The VIN is 9R33F129055. It decodes as a 1969 Ford Fairlane 500 built in CA with a 302 2V and a C4 transmission. There are additional parts in the trunk including some trim and the Heat/ac components. I can't guarantee that it's all there but it looks to be.
