Vehicle Detail
This 400F was an 18,000 mile rider that deserved a full restoration from the frame up. 18,399 was the original mileage before the gauges were replaced. Speedometer now shows 789 miles, which were the miles left on it by the person who restored the current gauges. The frame was professionally painted along with the tank and side covers at a local premium body shop. Perfect paint. Also repainted the engine. I had the gauges restored and had the exhaust headers and Honda muffler rechromed along with the handle bars. I replaced many parts including most of the fasteners from Honda, battery, fork seals, master cylinder O/H kit, seat, rear tire, rim and spokes, mirrors, exhaust collars, front fender, taillight lens, fuel cap, ignition switch, break pads, generator cover, and much more. The engine has 135 lbs comp in all cylinders. The bike starts cold and hot, handles, shifts and stops just as it should. Bike includes the tool tray and lid, new set of the correct Honda tools and an owners manual. The front steering head bearings were cleaned and repacked along with the swing arm cleaned and packed. The front tire, rim and spokes are nice. The carbs were expertly cleaned, all cables lubed and test driven. This bike runs great, very fun to ride. Please call my cell with any questions 309-253-2180, Bob. I removed the oil pan and the valve cover and the engine is very clean inside. The engine number is CB400 FE 1009283 just 17 from the frame number. The inside of the tank has never been coated and looks as new inside and out. If there is a new owner he or she will be very pleased. There are no issues that I am aware of. On Sep-17-15 at 19:30:51 PDT, seller added the following information: The pictures of the fuel tank and the gauges did not come out very well. The gauges look great,as new with red tips on the needles, red mark at 70mph and a beautiful red tach line. The face of these gauges are almost a carbon copy of the original, the best I have seen. Very few 400's around that aren't faded out white. The inside of the fuel tank is 95% shiny silver metal and the rest is real light surface rust. There is no rust on this bike. I have relisted this bike with a reserve less than the amount I have invested. I am 73 and in poor health and I need to sell my motorcycles so my wife does not have to deal with them. I have restored over 50 in the last 20 years and have sold 45 to 45 happy customers. The feedback that I have received from my customers by letter, phone, email, and by E-Bay feedback has all been positive. If I don't replace a part I recondition everything by buffing, painting, polishing or whatever it takes to appear as new. It has been a labor of love but I have to try to keep selling bikes ( wrong season) and parts as time goes on.
