Many rare factory options!” VIN WDB46023217042315 The Classic Car Gallery is proud to present this unique and rare 1985 Mercedes Benz 280GE. This G Wagon has been sympathetically restored over the years, has a diesel conversion and several rare options. All rust prone areas has been remediated properly with new sheet metal and new factory panels were welded in where necessary. All new window rubber, including front doors were installed at the time of the restoration. All new plastic parts around the vehicle were replaced as well including side mouldings and headlight surrounds. Her original interior is in excellent condition; no rips, wear areas, or stains. The headliner and rubber mats are in good shape. The driveline was completely overhauled and upgraded by Eurotruck Importers, Oakwood, GA. All new universal joints, seals, bearings, suspension rubber, etc was replaced at the time of service. Drive shafts were balanced and the brakes were rebuilt. This G-Wagen has the rare "safari" roof as a factory option. It also has the factory Recaro seats which are very comfortable and complete the euro look. This 280GE has been converted to diesel power using the tried and true Mercedes Benz OM617 3 liter turbo diesel that is well known for longevity and reliability. The conversion by Eurotruck was done to a very high standard and completed as if it was factory installed. They took great pains to make this be the very best conversion, including custom fabricated A/C compressor mountings and other ancillary componentry. At the time of the conversion a new starter, remanufactured turbo and overhauled injection pump were all installed. The car has an exhaust gas temp gauge and a modern JVC stereo with CD player. Wheels are from a Mercedes Sprinter Van with the appropriate spacers; the tires are in good shape with plenty of tread remaining.
