Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE. Fully restored. New rebuilt Mini Cooper 1.275 Litre 4 cylinder engine in 2005. Rebuilt with new pistons and modified for the Mini Moke. Only 2800 miles since 2005 rebuild. Beautiful condition and runs flawlessly. Actual pictures. What exactly is a Mini Moke? When the British Motor Corporation failed to put a dent in the Land Rover's dominance of four-wheel drive sales charts, Britain's most prolific car-maker took a different approach to the off-road and military-vehicle markets.Drawing on the Jeep, the BMC in Britain commissioned a vehicle light enough to be dropped by parachute, or carried by its occupants across difficult terrain. The Moke's development as a military vehicle was supervised by Mini designer Sir Alec Issigonis, with focus on weight reduction and the maneuverability to scuttle through hostile terrain before the enemy knew it was there. The Moke's military career was brief, hampered by its 10 inch wheels and minimal ground clearance.Having invested heavily in the para-Moke project, BMC wasn't about to let the concept die, and in 1964 a civilian version was released onto the British market. After entertaining the idea of supplying Mokes with just a driver's seat so they might qualify for commercial vehicle tax concessions, BMC's next ploy was to fit four seats. 13 inch wheels were fitted revising the body panels and the spare wheel was mounted behind the bumper as an additional impact buffer. They marketed the car as a budget-priced FUN machine. The Mini Moke had found its niche!!Mokes were manufactured in England, Austrailia, and Portugal. Many were sold to tourist destinations like France, Greece and the West Indies where they served as rental and courtesy vehicles. The Moke was never available in kit form, but have always been factory produced using a steel monocoque body pan mounted on Mini sub frames. Mokes always left the factory fully assembled. Mokes were still available brand new in the UK until late 1994 - priced at more than 6000 pounds. This Mini Moke restoration was completed by Dion Jardine of DJ Minis in Westley Chapel, Florida in May of 2005. The restorer replaced the rubber cone suspension with modern shocks and added marine grade custom upholstery and top which are in excellent condition. He also installed rare matching Moke mud flaps and wheel well covers and had the bumpers chromed. This Moke has been garage stored and driven locally by the same owners since its restoration. This Moke drives great and recently received a tune up and new water pump. Not only is this little car lots of fun, but it is definitely a head turner and always gets a smile.Very rare 1968 Austin Mini Moke - NO RESERVE STARTING BID A LOW $12,500On Sep-24-15 at 06:00:26 PDT, seller added the following information: From: mricketts1 To: proclm Subject: Other: mricketts1 sent a message about Austin : Mini Moke #141781480929 Sent Date: Sep-22-15 03:52:02 PDT Dear proclm, Hi - Looks like a great little car. A few questions: Is there any rust - battery box, tool box, floors ? Do all items work - horn, wipers, lights, speedo, gas gauge, etc. Any additional close up pictures you could send me or I could see. Its hard to make out much detail in these pictures. Would like to see underside as well. Hard to see VIN number - can you let me know what that is and also I assume you have a title and its currently registered. Has it been inspected recently ? Thanks so much -Matt ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear mricketts1, Recently tuned up. Brand new battery, horn works, all the gauges, wipers and lights work. I have a clear Certificate of Title. Registered in Florida. No inspections needed in Florida but it would pass with flying colors. Very very very minimal rust. overall in excellent condition. You will not be disappointed. I attached photocopy of title and registration with my personal info blacked out. VIN # AAB17131964 - proclm
