Vehicle Detail

I have owned 4 new CB750’s in the 1970’s and renovated and restored over 20 in the last 20 years and it turns out that this absolutely is the most eye-catching of them all. This is a very low mileage ’73 as evidenced by the frame and the swing arm that did not need painting, the rims and spokes that were very nice and the original tires that still have a lot of tread left. The 341 stickers were still on the shocks that were in excellent condition as were all of the components. The chrome had those crummy little rust spots that really show up with a flash light so I had the stock 341 handlebars, tail light housing, and front and rear fenders re-chromed. All of the electrical components and wiring is in nearly as new condition. Other items that made me realize this was a really low miler was the master cylinder cap that looked as new, the brake and clutch lever that still had all of the Honda original plastic coating and the rubber ends like new. The chrome bolts and nuts in the triple tree were like new as well as the right and left switches that were only slightly faded and the red markings still very vivid. I had to find a new right switch with the chrome spring and screw bolt as it was broken inside. The rear grab bar was in excellent condition along with 3 of the turn signals and all 4 of the stems. One of the turn signals was broken. The owner thought that his son (deceased) had an incident that caused several cooling fins to be damaged so he located an engine out of a very low mileage 1976 serial #CB750E2439288. The 1976 engine is really good as it looks identical but has many internal improvements over the 4 years of production. I removed the valve cover and the oil pan and they both looked as new, no sludge, clean oil, bright internal parts. Removing the clutch cover and the points cover again looked as new. While I had the engine out I went ahead and replaced the head gasket as this is a common leakage problem. Everything just really looked nice and clean and untouched. I carefully adjusted the valves, buffed the aluminum components and painted the engine with high temp paint. When I bought the bike it was missing the gauges, seat, tank, chain guard, and other pieces that his son and friends removed while being stored in dad’s basement. The fuel tank that I located had no rust and has been treated. Now it was time to make this beauty like new. It took the tank and side cover to my favorite professional body shop and had them apply the three part paint (Candy Bucchus Olive) which he doesn’t even try to duplicate but purchases all of these Candy colors from vintage hondapaint.com. The pictures do not do justice to the color because it loves to change colors. Inside or in the shade it is a beautiful dark metallic green, in the light or sun it just glows a lighter green color with different tints from different angles. This is a rare color but dazzling beautiful. In my effort to make this bike look and run like new I was able to locate in all the original boxes part # labels and packing for the following parts that are no longer available from Honda, are very valuable and extremely hard to fine including all 4 341 pipes and all NOS Honda attaching parts including rubber tabs and clamp connectors, NOS Honda heat deflectors and all screws, heat grommets and washers and all attaching bolts. New in the box tachometer and speedometer with correct part # for 1973, NOS Right Handle switch in the box, and a new in the box Honda seat. I know I will never be able to accomplish this again. Other new Honda parts include Right and Left mirrors, master cylinder, O/H overhaul kit, petcock assembly, Insulator A&B carb to cylinder, Right and Left grips, all Honda engine gaskets and pan screws, Yuasa Battery, tank holddown, 1 turn signal, points cover, spark plugs, air cleaner connecting tubes, side cover grommets and O-ring chain, fuel tank mouldings, battery bond, fuel tank cap, upper and lower breaks, hoses and many, many more. This bike starts quickly cold or hot and runs, stops, and handles just like I remember 40 years ago. This bike shifts, the clutch pulls, and brakes brake and the engine and exhaust sound the same as when new. This bike would win at any show, and would be a keeper for a long time. I’m 73, in crummy health and I have to sell things I love. Build date was 3/73. On Aug-07-15 at 11:01:45 PDT, seller added the following information: I would just like to add that I did my best on every part and piece. Underneath the tank and underneath the bike looks as new.
