I am offering my 1997 Mercedes Benz V12 SL600 in great condition with 77,567 original miles. The car is currently located in Savannah GA, I am it's third owner. Originally when this car was purchased new (sticker $128,726) it was titled in Massachusetts and Rhode Island by the first owner and registered for personal use. I picked her up from a dealer in Fairfax VA in 2005 with 32,520 miles and subsequently shipped her to Southern California where she lived until 2011 when I moved with her to Savannah GA. I am now moving once again and where I am moving to is not a good environment for the car so I have decided to find her a new home so she can be driven rather than stored in a barn.This SL600 is the R129 body style which many continue to prefer over the newer body styles. 1997 is said to be the best year mechanically and electrically and was manufactured in Germany before the merger of Daimler Benz with Chrysler when these cars were then manufactured in the U.S..There are only a few examples of these great cars left and this one has been meticulously maintained during the 10 years that I have owned her. I was able to purchase an extended warranty from Mercedes which allowed me to have close to $60,000 of maintenance and upgrades including a complete transmission overhaul, still the original transmission, replaced hydraulic lifting suspension system and new active door speakers among other things. My service records are available upon request and are from Mercedes "Keys" in Van Nuys CA and Mercedes of Savannah in Georgia. Also in the paperwork there is the first service dealership in Rhode Island listed with a business card as well.The Original SL600 documentation (owner’s manual, car care guide, operation guide, original maintenance booklet and owners service and warranty information booklet 1997, dealer directory for US and Canada 1996 + more in original case), Mercedes Benz first aid kit, windscreen, 2 original keys, original radio and original equiptment speakers. The rear tweeter speakers in the rear bench have a crack in the plastic cover due to my large suitcase not fitting into the trunk. A K40 radar receiver was factory installed as an upgrade option that is integrated into the dash cluster along with a Lojack. Full interior wood package, clean CarFax, no accidents. The soft top shows small cracks in the plastic windows but is otherwise in beautiful condition and operates smoothly at the flick of a switch. The removable hard top is also in beautiful condition, however, the head liner has recently delaminated during storage on the Hard Top Caddy and needs to be reaffixed. Factory Hard Top Storage Caddy also in good working order. This Mercedes roadster is all original stock and unmolested. The black paint is original and only shows a few small flaws. The "Triple Black" leather interior is in fine condition and has been a smoke free environment. The V12 power makes this a very fast and sexy car to drive. She really purrs and is a head turner. I had the diagnostics done by Mercedes Autobahn service center in Savannah GA and was told it would be either the relay or the fan motor or both. Worst case scenario, it would be $1700 parts, labor and tax, however, I have found a fan motor replacement for $300 and is accessed through the engine compartment. So if your handy you can save some $$$. Also there is a crack in the lower front driver side bumper that needs attention and according to A&L body shop this will be $300 to fix. I had already replaced and painted the front bumper (over $3500) due to a crack in it in CA, because it made me nuts. The car is so low that inevitably you will scrape up the lower bumper if not 100% careful all the time.Tires are in low mileage condition. I have recently replaced the manufacturer recommended Dunlop's with Michelin Pilot Super Sports which has made all the difference in the grip and noise reduction while driving. The new tires are fantastic.I am aware of the few things that need attention and the cost involved but they are, with exception of the AC which by the way still blows ice cold, all cosmetic and therefore I offer this car with a much lower reserve. If you see what has been done to this car mechanically you'll appreciate the work and knowing she is mechanically perrrrfect.
