Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 2004 red Honda Civic two door coupe. The trim level is VP (Value Package). I am not the original owner of this car and bought it when the mileage was around 100k. Since owning it, I have had the timing belt service done, which also included the installation of a new water pump. At that time, I also had to replace the catalytic converter as there was a crack in the housing. All together, it cost me $1600. Other than that, the radiator has been flushed and I've given it regular oil changes. All of the service that I have had done was at a Honda dealership. I originally purchased the car as no frills basic transportation to commute in and it does get really great gas mileage. The engine runs just fine. The heat and A/C are in working order, windows go up and down and the doors all open and shut. I replaced two of the tires this past spring and the registration and inspection are current in the state of NY. Now for the bad.... The clutch went mushy on me a couple days ago. Thankfully, she made it home, but is now stuck in neutral in the driveway and will need to be towed. I was hoping it might just be the clutch cable, but after a call in to the mechanic, he seems to think it could either be the master or slave cylinder. I was told it might cost $500 to $800 to have it fixed. If you have the time and are mechanically inclined, you could probably get away for less. I should note that sometimes while driving at lower speeds, the gears make a faint, but noticeable rumbling and growling noise. It hasn't had an effect on shifting or driving and the mechanic said that it was just something to be aware of. As you can see in the photos, this car won't win any beauty contests. There are scratches, chips, dings, and dents. There is a clear coat of lacquer peeling off the bumper. Just recently, the car was backed into and the large dent in the hood happened under my watch and will likely need to be replaced. The hood pins, after market radio, and all other imperfections were somebody else's doing. According to carfax, this car was in a couple of accidents and sustained some damage to the front end and then was repaired. I knew that going into it. At this point, I don't want to spend any more money than I already have on this car. Perhaps, all of the work has now been done other than the clutch and hood??? I don't know, but I am ready to cut my losses and walk away. If you can fix it, this would make good basic transportation or maybe somebody's project car. Thanks for looking. I will answer any questions as best I can. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping.
