Vehicle Detail

Foolishly and because I am not an experienced eBay seller, I paid extra for establishing a reserve price and also for a 10 day auction. When my Eshelman was bid to $1650.00 and did not reach the reserve, I received an alert from eBay to "relist your item." When I did so, it did not provide me with an option to remove my reserve price, change the number of days or to select a start date. Consequently, I ended that auction ASAP and within 24 hours. For all of the above reasons listed above, this is a 7 DAY auction with NO RESERVE. My adjectives in the title are correct. Eshelman Motors used the words Child Sport Car without the lower case letter "s." It was never advertised as a "Childs" or "Sports" car. Eshelman Child Sport Cars were sold by mail order and advertised in Popular Science magazine. Eshelman Child Sport Cars were very, very expensive. Only an extremely wealthy family could afford to buy their child-children an Eshelman Child Sport Car. Not only must the family have had immense wealth, the buyer had to live on an estate, farm, or have access to a road track. The cost of a 1953-1956 Eshelman Child Sport Car was $295.00 plus shipping. This $295.00 cost in 1954 equates to $2,436.00 in 2015. The model years of Eshelman Child Sport Cars were 1953-1956. With the exception of the 1953 Eshelman Child Sport Car, all front grills had the last two numerals of the year of manufacture stamped into the grill. Please note that this front grill reflects " '54 ESHELMAN." I purchased this Eshelman in 1990 and have owned it for 25 years. This is Eshelman Serial Number 555. I have not done anything to the car except add premium gas, oil changes twice a year and I have driven it in many, many parades. As you can see through the grill, it still has the OEM 2 Horsepower Briggs and Stratton four (4) cycle engine. To cold start the Eshelman, the manual choke knob is pulled out through the large OEM factory hole to the right of the center of the dash. The factory through-the-dash hole for the accelerator cable is accessed near the large OEM hole. The accelerator cable is pulled out all the way for speed and half-way for cruising. The handle of the pull start rope is high on the passenger side of the dash. Pull the rope cord, the engine will start, then slowly push in the manual choke control knob until satisfied with the engine idle. The Eshelman has a through-the dash toggle switch that stops the engine. Once pushed down, the engine stops and the toggle switch automatically reverts to its "up" position. Please note this Eshelman is able to pull a trailer, as reflected in the photo of the rear of my 1954 Eshelman. The OEM Aero Dart 10 X 2.75 hard rubber tires are still on the vehicle. These tires have several small areas where the hard rubber is missing. The tires today are exactly as they were when I bought my Eshelman in 1990. Since I purchased my Eshelman in 1990, the car has only been driven on smooth streets and never on sidewalks. Braking is on the rear wheels by a curved piece of heavy metal activated by the brake pedal. The dimensions are as follows and are as precise as is possible: length: 54 inches - width: 25 inches - height: 25 inches weight: extremely heavy. The photo of the 1955 Eshelman advertisement listed to the right of the five photos states:CHILD'S AUTO WITH MOTOR70 MILES PER GAL. GAS.Sturdy, Safe/.Commended by"PARENTS' MAG."Shipping Points:Balto., Chicago, RenoFree Catalog Write:Eshelman Co.Dept. MC-211A109 Light St., Balto. 2, Md." Because I am not a shipper, you will be required to make your own arrangements for shipping to your location. Naturally, I will assist in any way I can. If you prefer I deliver the Eshelman to you at your expense, perhaps arrangements can be made. Please bid if you wish to own this very desirable and extremely rare collector car but please don't waste my time or your time with bids you cannot afford to pay. Please do not send me an email unless you have a specific question that pertains to the Eshelman only. If you have any questions other than pricing and would prefer to speak with me, please feel free to call: Howard G. Singer: 619-980-4586. Please be so kind to let me explain that there is no such thing as "sniping" on any eBay auction. It is amusing that there are individuals that believe in the existence of "sniping." Those of you who believe in "sniping," I would like to ask one question of you. Suppose there are 18,000 people who have a "sniping" app. Near or at the end of an eBay auction, which one of those 18,000 people would it serve? I strongly recommend you not wait until the last two days or several hours and minutes before the close of the auction to bid on my 1954 Eshelman Child Sport Car. If you feel as though you can wait until the last minute and sneak up on it . . . WRONG! It's very simple. Regardless whether your bid is placed on the first day of the auction, the last day of the auction or at any other time, the person who bids the highest amount WINS! I am expecting to be paid in full within 3 DAYS from the close of the auction and also expect that the winner will make arrangements to receive the scooter within a REASONABLE length of time. Thank you. Links are not permitted in an eBay auction. When entering the following two titles in YouTube, please remember to omit the quotation marks. To my knowledge, these are without a doubt the most enjoyable YouTube titles: "1954 Eshelman Sport Car: 2010 Kenosha Civic Veterans Parade” and “1955 Eshelman sport 55 car” Eshelman Child Sport Cars are rarely offered for sale at auction or privately. Collectible and rare are mild descriptions. All the very best luck and skill to each and every one of you. Please remember . . . you can’t take it with you.
