Vehicle Detail
Reluctant sale of my 1969 E Type Jaguar 2+2 coupe This is a numbers matching, 100% rust free, low mileage Series II E-Type, that still has the original factory owners tag. This longer wheelbase Series II 2+2, benefits from improved looks, better handling, more leg room and a sliding rear seat which converts the car to a 2 seater with extra luggage space. The car has the benefit from the option list of an Auto transmission and Air Conditioning (this will need charging). The car also has it's very rare original Blaupunkt radio! As you can see the car looks fantastic in its original color of Regency Red, with contrasting beige leather interior. Apart from the rain gutters and side window frames, every piece of chrome trim and the bumpers are brand new. Brand new leather throughout, including headrests (not fitted as I don't like headrests). Lots of other new parts, far too many to list including a new set of Firestone tires. The car does all it should, starts, stops, steers and goes backward and forward. She could do with a new spare, as she still has her original red-line bias ply. This holds air but does show cracks from age. The wheel it's self is missing a few spokes. This can be repaired if you don't want to replace it. The carbs have started to run out of tune. Strombergs are a bit of a black art to me, so these may need rebuilding or just re-tuning. I don't have the time to address this, as I am shortly going to be deployed overseas and don't want to leave this with my wife to deal with. Hence........ the car is being sold with a very reasonable reserve price. I am happy to accept bids from overseas. If you have any questions or need more pictures, please feel free to ask. I request a $500 deposit via paypal from the lucky winner, with the balance paid in cash in person or via direct bank wire transfer. Thank you for looking and good luck. On Jun-20-15 at 15:36:57 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE: Actual mileage is 110,800 miles. I spoke with my friend in England who is a Jaguar mechanic. He said the carburetor will most likely need new needle valves and seats? I had a go at tweeking as per his advice and the result was the engine ran smoother, but coughs and splutters in Drive. He suggests a complete carb rebuilt from a professional. Yesterday the rev counter/tachometer stoppped working as did the clock and the flashers. All the other gauges work fine though?? I read somewhere that these run off the same fuse/power supply. Auto electrics are just as much a 'black art' as Stromberg carburetors, thus beyond my ability to fix. I do not have the luxury of time to have these issues addressed. Hence the new owner will need to do some fettling to make the car perfect. For this reason I have lowered my reserve price to $27,000. I think this is more than fair, to allow for any extra costs you may have. I'm sure a Jag expert will have these things sorted in short order. The car still starts first turn of the key, is beautiful to look at, super solid with NO rust at all and NO evidence of ever having been in an accident and in fantastic condition. At $27,000 she is a real steal. On Jun-20-15 at 16:45:58 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE to UPDATE: When the car goes into gear, it now coughs, splutters and dies. Therefore she would have to be trailered to her new home. In the meantime I will try and find a Jag expert in Vegas who might be able to look at it.
