For a slideshow of 156 Photos click this link: http://s746.photobucket.com/user/cars2k/slideshow/1956%20Ford%20F100%20Pickup?sort=9 The F-Series full-size pickup trucks from Ford Motor Company were built for over six decades and were the best-selling vehicles in the United States. The last year of the "fat-fender" F-Series trucks was 1953-‘56 “Series 2” which represented a sea change in pickup design and appearance. Among many improvements, the ‘56 model distinguishes itself by its pleasing, vertical windshield pillars and wrap-around windshield as opposed to the sloped pillars and angled windshield of the 1953-55. Rightfully, they are coveted by collectors worldwide; however, nearly 60 years after production of the series ended, original examples are almost impossible to find. Especially the 1956 “Big Window” wood bed pickups which command a premium among enthusiasts. Scores of Ford people that restore older trucks today prefer the original look, combined with "modern" mechanical components. However, there's quite a number of real antique truck lovers, people like us, who desire the original look and "feel." The 1956 "F-Series" survivor truck presented here is a most unique find, sure to please the most ardent admirer of a "second generation" model. The original door tag reveals it: VIN * F10D6L-14871*, is an F100 half-ton Conventional 2WD 5000 GVW pickup with a 215 cid, 6-cylinder engine that was assembled in Long Beach, CA. This California native has always lived a charmed life. Owned by a prominent businessman in Newport Beach, CA, this fantastic Ford was FULLY RECONDITIONED BOTH MECHANICALLY AND COMSETICALLY. It’s now garaged and covered among his among a private collection. Hence, a unique opportunity arises to obtain a coveted BIG WINDOW ’56, one that has enjoyed a most beneficial climate, pampered beyond belief by a mature owner with big pockets and the willingness to pay up for the best upgrades and service money can buy. Let's check out this dream find now, top to bottom, inside and out! Exterior: Finished in all new patina rust/primer paint with custom pinstriping and lettering, this F100 is beyond unique and receives thumbs up and smiles from passerby’s everywhere. Like a fine wine... ...this '56 is well-aged. Many eclectic details truly make it come alive. Correct side mirrors and Custom Cab badges. Dent-free roof. A very diverse mix of colors were used to produce the unique, rust/patina look. Note converted big window cab Old, "barn find" look but this truck's frame is actually laser straight. Let's check out the pickup bed! Tailgate is original and in wonderful condition. Full oak wood and stainless bed complete this collectable! Even some of the glass has faux cracks. The patina and rust look to the paint makes this unique truck ready for the next Indiana Jones installment. Custom pinstriping by the legendary Gary Glenn of Signs and Designs (one of his last). Automotive art, indeed! Old school 15-inch chromed rims/hubcaps wear newer radial tires. Chrome has acquired an irreplaceable patina as well. While we’re down on one knee, let’s take a close look at the undercarriage. Only after you realize how beat-up most of these truck beds are, after over half-a-century of utilitarian use, mind you, you'll be able to fully appreciate this one! Note the new exhaust and suspension components. Very important: pictures of the underneath: Everything is bone dry; with only miniscule surface rust. A dry climate, California truck is so much easier to live with! Let’s have a peek under the hood. Engine compartment, "au naturel." Nothing added, nothing taken away. The original 215-cid straight six engine always starts and purrs happily. There's no smoke, and only minor oil leaks. The wiring is new, under the hood and under the dash and all lights and windshield wipers work with new wiper motor. Ford’s mechanical longevity and simplicity is legendary, and this truck keeps the legend alive! Let's enter this vintage cabin. The pickup features a newer LEATHER bench seat for 3 passengers WITH ADDED SEATBELTS and center armrest with cup holders. New carpet and Dynamatted throughout. Headliner is new as well. As is most of this eclectic interior. Lots of fascinating interior details abound. Other improvements exclusive to the ‘56 are 12-volt electrical, electric-motor wipers, a restyled dashboard for improved driver's visibility and "Lifeguard Steering Wheel". All gauges (new), speedometer, switches, blinkers and heater work. Rust free cab corners While still retaining its original charm, this interior is far more comfortable and safer with upgraded leather bench seat and seatbelts. Drivability: What a joy to pilot this F100 pickup! It's a time machine, really, putting you in touch with a long-forgotten world that's only alive today in a few old children's books and vintage black-and-white movies. Time seems to slow down a bit, and you can't help but smile with giddy excitement as you pass through the countryside, daydreaming of living in an old farmhouse with a barn, the blue pickup parked beside it. The pickup starts, sounds, runs, shifts, handles, and stops just like you would expect from a low-mileage, vintage Ford. The Ford-o-matic transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears and the newly rebuilt brakes stop the truck in a straight line without any hint of fading. Mind you there are NO POWER BRAKES OR POWER STEERING. There's no shimmying, no rattling, no unruly behavior of any kind. In fact, in its current condition, you could use it as a daily driver or take it cross country. Imagine having a beloved, vintage pickup in your driveway, a faithful friend, as spry and chipper as this one. We would like to see this treasure, this time-warp truck belong to someone who appreciates its originality. Here's a very rare opportunity to purchase one of the best ‘56 pickups in existence. It does everything you would expect from a true utility vehicle. It looks gorgeous, and it's ready to be loved for the next 59 years. Spare parts--if needed--and classic car insurance are dirt cheap. Servicing it is a snap. Well preserved and no rust: add this '56 to your family and you'll smile with delight every time you lay eyes on your prized possession!
